Five states hall of shame
It was on NPR earlier: name the five states that have never elected a woman to the U.S. Senate or Congress. Appointees who were not subsequently elected do not qualify.

(I listened while driving, took their viewers a long time to get the 5th and I think that I remember four...)

29. Correct
Surprisingly many of the listeners assumed the states would be from the south and except for maybe Mississippi, they are not.

for a small state, especially. Maybe the best candidates still happened to be men. I'd only say it was fair to judge from the 70s, too. Before that, of course they were all men.

But I think Delaware might be one.

21. the answer for the House only
The states that have not elected a woman to the house are Alaska, Delaware, Iowa, Mississippi, North Dakota, and Vermont.

One of those must have had a female Senator to put it to five.

except for Alaska, that does have a Senator

The five are: Delaware, Iowa, Mississippi, North Dakota and Vermont.

Amazing how so many of the callers put southern states there..
