September 12, 2009 - Will The Corporate Media Cover-Up The Crazies and the Secessionists?
Edited on Fri Sep-11-09 10:37 PM by TomCADem
My take is that Fox News and the like will portray the protestors as normal folks who just are expressing their disagreement and opposition to health care reform, and other progressive aspects of the President's agenda. However, as we have seen, these events are replete with folks who advocating yet another civil war on a day after 9/11, which is perhaps the most unpatriotic and anti-American thing anyone can do. On a day commemorating the unity that followed a terrorist attack on the U.S., the radical right openly advocating secession. The question is the degree to which the corporate media tries to clean up the protestors and avoid broadcasting images like this:

1. Hubby and I might make it to downtown D.C. tomorrow for an errand or two.
If I seen anything outlandish, I'll be sure to take a picture. However, I'm not sure if I wish to mix with the teabaggers. :P

2. Cool! Great Idea!
It should not be hard given that natural selection is going to have the craziest folks attending this events. The Lyndon Larouche crowd is always good for racist, offensive imagery and signs.

3. Fox may try to make it look sane but I trust the competition between
the networks to reveal all.

14. Can't wait for some of the pictures today.
I agree that Fox is going to try to sanitize the pictures of mass consumption.

5. It really is just a matter of time before one of these nuts does
something foolish.

The Repug Congress members are going to be there tomorrow and supporting this shit, Cantor was there today spouting lies (he's an idiot) and other Repugs were there too.....

When whatever violence happens the Repug party is out of power for decades if not longer.

9. They're right. Going from 35% to 39.6% on income over $300,000/yr is pure TYRANNY!!
They can't even get the % right. Before Bush, the top marginal tax rate was 39.6% on income over $288,350.

Whew...an extra $9,200 for someone making $500,000/yr is just STAGGERING! How will they live?!?!

13. I'm 66 yp, and forever I've seen the uber rich complain about taxes.
The avg. guy gripes some, but [ays that extra 1-3% wether it be an increase in the SS witholding or an increase in the local sales tax. The only Dem I remember who believed differently was JFK. He simply said we're going to eliminate many of the loopholes enjoyed by the rich and we can lower the tax rate dramatically! That's similar to today. The top tax rate is I think 38% but nobody [ays that! There are so many exemptions for these folks. I thought the idea of equaling the field by ca[ing the deduction for charity contributions at what the avg. person gets...28% instead if the current 38% was a fair and good thing. The rich folks would still get their deduction, it would just be a little less. BFD! I don't make enough money to donate much. We're retired and living on SS, so the std. deduction is the best we can do. Tax filing is really simple! One page. Name. address, SS income, gross, deductible for 2 people over 65, std. deduction, no tax due.

17. Can you imagine how great it would be to live here if all the haters
threatening to secede, actually did. If they just picked up and left?

A girl can dream.
