A key Republican senator who President Obama hopes will support his effort to overhaul the nation’s health-care system urged him Sunday to take any plan for a new government-run program “off the table.”

Here's the full of shit moment:
"...scuttling the public option for good “could give real momentum to building a consensus on other issues."

BULLSHIT.

Maybe ONE Republican, in a district safe from their wacko-influenced primaries will end up voting for any bill that finally comes out of all of these committees.

There will be NO "CONSENSUS" SENATOR. DON'T BULLSHIT US.

PS: NO OPTION, NO MANDATE.

1. It's not like we need Snowe's backing to bring charges against Bush or Cheney, either
I'll just bet she'd insist on "consensus" and "bipartisanship" in that regard, too.

2. She was the "quote" on NPR this morning...
You know, the "Readers' Digest"-type of quote favored by NPR where one sentence, or part of one sentence, is aired.

I wondered who made her the "consensus maker?"

NPR needs to learn from the BBC on how to interview--really interview--a subject and the use of quotes...

4. HERE would be a good question - single question to ask the Senator
(maybe not worded this way)

OK, Senator Snowe. Say they take the Public Option off the table, as you suggest, but they maintain the Federal mandate that people buy some form of private health insurance, and that there's a program for Federal subsidies to private insurance companies for those who can't afford it.

Senator Snowe, can you NAME *FOUR* REPUBLICAN SENATORS WHO WOULD *THEN* VOTE FOR THE HEALTH CARE REFORM PACKAGE?

TWO OR THREE REPUBLICANS DOESN'T MAKE "CONSENSUS" SENATOR SNOWE.

3. "NO OPTION, NO MANDATE." Hear, hear!
Of course, that option will need to be "robust" in order for me to back the President's "health insurance reform" proposal, but I wanted to acknowledge your slogan anyway.
