1. There is a reason why he dipped in the polls
Democrats, good progressive Democrats mind you, saw him not fighting hard enough for the principles that we believe in. The last week has given them reason to believe that the president has got the message.

3. not just progressives, but the whole large group of
moderates and unaffiliated, who saw and heard nothing, hated the vacuum that his absence created, and downgraded the president because his vacuum allowed the lobbybeast to take over the debate.

That led to more tea parties.

That led to more crazies gathering and attacking politicians and others.

That led to the 2,000,000 mouse march on DC last week.

Once he got back on track and started showing a bit of spine, his good standing returned.
(HINT HINT, RAHM. PUBLIC OPTION IS POPULAR. INSURANCE COMPANIES ARE NOT. THEIR PAID PER VOTE LACKEYS ARE NOT)

10. Do you mean the tens of thousands at the Milling Moron March?
And even the 'tens of thousands' were what was claimed by the MSM.

12. Not really.
Obama's approval fell mostly because indies were leaving in high numbers.

What to make you happy he has to give a weekly primetime address?

His numbers went down because the media was spinning everything to create false drama and boost rating and most of the people here fall for it every time

26. His approval ratings among Dems have been around 90% since he's been elected
I don't know where these disgruntled progressives of which you speak are in the polls. Yeah, we know there are plenty here on DU but we are not a representative slice of the general population.

Or 1.2 million, as they are still robustly claiming.

15. Blitzer is a tool
But then CNN employs idiots like Glenn Beck (until he went to FOX) and Lou Dobbs, so it would seem that something is profoundly wrong with "The most trusted name in news". :eyes:

More Biased Reporting from CNN!

"The headline reads "Americans Divided on President's Health Care Plan," but if you actually read the article you learn that a new poll shows a 58% approval rating for Obama, a clear majority in favor of the health care plan, and that public support has increased significantly in recent days:"

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/09/14/cnn-pol...

"If Bush ever had a 58% approval rating at any time except for the immediate aftermath of 9/11, they'd be screaming 'mandate' . . ."

14. Wait a second. The media told me that everyone hates his socialist plans.
Could it be that the media are paying too much attention to the 1% of the population who are watching Glenn Beck, disrupting town hall meetings and attending teabag protests? :eyes:

17. Even Republicanmussen has Obama at his best mark in two months.
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 34% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-seven percent (37%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -3. That’s a five point improvement since last week’s speech and the President’s best Approval Index rating in more than two months (see trends).

19. I noticed that.
Gallup has him at 53-40. I think his approval rating is probably between 53-58 percent and disapproval around 37-40

20. Very Interesting...
Obama received 52.9% of the popular vote last fall. This would indicate that many people who didn't vote for him, nonetheless approve of his performance. That is the GOP's worst nightmare.
