Ah Joe Scar, they hated the Clintons so much...and yet,
there was no heckling during his addresses to Congress. There were no nuts carrying guns outside his appearances. No Joe, that has nothing to do with race.

Idiot.

2. Joey's twisting himself in knots today. Trying to have it all ways.
Trying to paint charges of racism as bigotry against white people essentially. Poor Mika's levels are all disturbed again. Barnacle pontificates only to agree with Joe.

24. Yes,he did..
the main point he was trying to get to was that it wasn't racism(which is a lie) it is just his poll numbers are going down and all of a sudden the majority of the country hates the President.

Mika did the usually nod agree when she doesn't even know what in the hell she is talking about. Barnicle and Scar know it is racism but they won't admit it.

Yeah, Mika started to read the news that Biden was in Iraq, and Joe started sputtering "Oh, and I guess BIDEN WAS RACIST when he RAN AGAINST OBAMA?! RIGHT? RACIST!"

4. Some may be racists, but not all of them.
The Clintons got attacked from the right pretty bad too. When Obama has a special prosecutor up his butt for 5 years and when his wife is dragged in front of a grand jury or has to wear a bullet proof vest in public, then we can talk.

And let's not forget what our side did to Bush. He was continually disrespected too. The guy may have deserved it, but that's a different issue.

9. But I think the attacks on Bill Clinton were ALSO racist.
The Democratic Party is inclusive. Republicans are old white people for the most part. And BC was called the first black president. Democrats are for civil rights for everyone. Republicans are not.

Edited on Wed Sep-16-09 01:07 PM by Beacool
They are just like us, we are not monolithic in thought. We range from the far left to the center. They range from ultra conservative to middle of the road. Are some of these people racist? Of course!! Are they all racists? No, they are not.

33. I am. They are all racists.
I've know a whole bunch of Republicans, mostly when I was a young man. Every single one I have know is intolerant as hell and refer to black people in only one way, while in all white company-nigger. If some horrible disease came about that only affected Republicans, killed them all, the world would be immeasurably a better place for all living beings, every animal and the earth itself.

Every single one I have ever known. Racists, one and all.

And if that was their only fault. They are also intolerant of others, dishonest to the extreme and greedy beyond measure. No, there is nothing good about a filthy Republican.

14. No one is saying they a ALL racist.
You can find examples all day long of similar things that happened to other presidents. That's nice. That's politics. However, there is a significant segment of the Republican party and the Tea Baggers who are being ginned up by racist politics.

And let's not try to pretend that the right hasn't been engaging in racist politics for many many years. Remember welfare queens driving Cadillacs? The Willie Horton ads? Affirmative Action? Entitlement programs? Illegal aliens? All of these have been used to gin up anger against minority groups. It's been happening because the Republicans have been blowing the racist dog whistle for decades.

The anger against Bush was something completely different. He exploited one of the most tragic and dramatic events in our history to shred the constitution and start an unlawful war based on lie in which hundreds of thousands of people were maimed and killed. He justified and carried out torture. He passed out our treasury to his friends through no-bid contracts and shredded records in doing signing statements. What Bush did does not even begin to compare to anything that Obama has done.

17. Don't forget the murder accusations levelled at the Clintons.
The lurid tales of "Arkancide," Vince Foster was murdered, etc. What was worse, was the goddamn Wall Street Journal printed that tripe. While some maniacs have started totting up an Obama body count, it hasn't gotten "respectable media" ( :puke: ) traction like that so far.

28. Bush's race may not have been an issue, but everything else was.
Our side called Bush every name in the book. Google Bush and Nazi, murderer, chimp, etc. I'm not saying that he didn't earn our derision, but to the Repugs Obama is the enemy, just like Bush was to us. If Hillary had been president, they would bring up plenty of sexist remarks. Then again, they've been doing it for so many years that I doubt that they could say anything we haven't heard yet.

34. You have a tendency to compare things which don't merit a comparison.
Also to inject Hillary Clinton into everything. I believe you've stated before that not everything about race. Well not every thing's about Mrs. Clinton.

None of our legislators ever disrespected bush in the same manner. Not even close. Yes, some might have called him a scumbag. Yet I don't remember anybody cutting him off mid speech. Even though we know he lied (about things that where not of business to begin with). Even though Maureen Dowd is a twit her article reg. this made a lot of sense. Are you familiar with Mr. Wilson's history? I suggest you get acquainted with it. The whole Kenya thing seems goddamn obvious enough. Not to mention all the staffers and state legislators that keep getting busted emailing racist shit about water melons or what have ya.

And you said it yourself none of the insults directed toward bush had anything to do with race. So I guess you're shooting down your own argument there. That's exactly the point these people have made it about race. For someone who appears to see sexism everywhere you sure seem to look the other way when racists out themselves.

You seem like a nice enough person but man you seem to have taken that whole primary thing worse than the Clinton's themselves. I think that Obama has made some shitty moves since being elected. But that's no reason to ignore the obvious.

35. Being an illegitimate child does not call for harrassment, being an illegitimate POTUS does.
BushCo* was all wrong from day one. BushCo* knew it and we (on DU) knew it. Dan Rather, Bill Maher and Natalie Maines knew it too - and paid the price for being too high profile.

Besides, if "it's unpatriotic, unamerican, seditious and treasonous to criticize a sitting President during a time of war", then why does the M$M even exist since last November 21st? That's about all they've got between disappearances of pretty young blond girls. Nearly everything they've reported on since Obama took office has been directly, indirectly or tangentially related to... wait for it... OBAMA.

7. Hillary was burned in effigy during the 90s health care debate! And Harry & Louise was a commercial
funded by a health insurance company, whereas the witch doctor picture was used by right-wing whackos. A better comparison is being burned in effigy vs. the witch doctor picture, and when looked at from the perspective I wouldn't say right-wing whackos behaved that much better back then.

20. Yes. G. Gordon Liddy is a misogynist.
Again, like racism, misogyny is about hate and bigotry.

G. Gordon Liddy was on 2 interview one night. One on CNN bitching because the government had the audacity to intrude on his private property and his rights by telling him he could not cut down an old growth tree on his lawn. Never mind that it was in the city's setback. He wrote a book about it he was so MAD!

On MSNBC, he was bitching about women getting abortions. That they were killers. How dare she.

It's hard not to notice the hypocrisy. He should not be told what he can do on his own property, but he has every right to tell women he does not even know what to do with their own bodies.

18. You might have noticed that Hillary was a woman.
There was a significant amount of sexism used to discredit her. She was the shrill wife of Bill who didn't belong in the job she was in. She didn't know "her place".

The Republican party operates on hatred and fear and discrimination. They have for decades. If you remember back to the primaries, there were almost constant complaints on DU about how Hillary was treated unfairly by the media because she was a woman.

Why are people on DU trying so hard to pretend racism and sexism don't play major roles in how the RW fights Democrats. These are the tactics they use. This is how they attract the bigots, homophobes and sexist pigs to their party. This is how they motivate them. Hate and fear. So why isn't it logical that the result is that their constituents act like racists when a Black president is elected.

We're not racist we're just insane and lie our asses off in an effort to score political points and fling a lil red meat to the base.

To be reduced to openly being dishonest and toxic assholes would make it seem like they should go somewhere and think about themselves regardless of the specific motivations.

13. Okay, give me a break. Joe Scar knows exactly what is going on.
I lived in the south for 6 months and know all about the treatment of Black during segregation. I lived there when I was 18 years old. Now I'm not that much older than Joe. I'm sure if he really thought hard he could remember there was out and out racism, blatant racism, open racism in the south during his lifetime and most certainly during Pat's lifetime. Why on earth is this so hard for him to believe.

Since the last of open segregation the Republic party has been blowing the racist dog whistle and now it's coming back to bite them in the ass. Tough cookies Joe. Be a man and own it.
