Did Baucus Unwittingly Help The Cause for a Public Option?
Baucus, and his little gang of six, were the biggest reason for the delay over the summer, and probably the biggest obstacle for true health care reform.

Now, that his odious plan has been released and mocked, it actually looks very politically weak compared to the other bills in the House and the Senate that actually do contain a public option.

I think that the momemtum has shifted towards a public option.

So, talk me out onto the ledge.

3. The problem he has is that he wasn't able to convince one republican
to stand with even this lame excuse for a bill...

4. Their common corporate masters love (and wrote) Max's plan.
Either the Republics are going to line up, or there's going to be hell to pay during the campaign.

We all know they don't want anything to move during Obama's tenure. Giving him a single win will be seen as defeat by the radical right. But the health care corporations are the bread and butter for a bunch of the (R)s (and most of the (D)- Corporates as well).

Notice how the President is just hanging back and allowing them to fight it out among themselves? He's just waiting to see what falls out of the tree before he makes a move.

6. And, ultimately, who gives a rat's ass ? . . .

The 'Licans lost track of the concept of "governance" with the ascendancy of Karl Rove and haven't rediscovered it since. All they're interested in is unadulterated power, and -- while that clearly works sometimes -- it ain't working now.

Baucus couldn't convince one 'Lican because they were not authentically engaged in the debate. Which I hope the Administration realizes now, even if the teabaggers and the traditional media don't.

5. Sometimes you never know when the Law of Unintended Consequences might raise its head.
It would be ironic in this case.

8. Perhaps a more interesting question is did he deliberately help
the cause? Some have actually suggested as much. ;)
