"No Child Left Behind" FRAUD, LIES and FAKERY
More lies and fraud and cooking the books. B*shie claims "no child left behind"... that is, unless they drop out, then just fake the numbers.

And then appoint the superintendent of Houston education fraud to the position of US Secretary of Education.

The cool trick of 'no child left behind' is to report dropout rates as between 0% and 1.5%, when the actual nunbers are 25%-50%.

Call it "the new math"???

CBS---------

Sharpstown High wasn’t the only “outstanding” school. The Houston school district reported a citywide dropout rate of 1.5 percent. But educators and experts 60 Minutes checked with put Houston’s true dropout rate somewhere between 25 and 50 percent.

Once he was elected president, Mr. Bush named Paige as secretary of education. And Houston became the model for the president’s “No Child Left Behind” education reform act.

Those low dropout rates – in Houston and all of Texas - were one of the accomplishments then-Texas Gov. George Bush cited when he campaigned to become the “Education President.”

1. He was talking about the draft
No child left behind, once we start the draft. Unless, of course, the child has rich republican parents.

3. Enron accounting...
Remarkable -- a school has 1,000 ninth graders, 400 or so 12th graders, and claims no dropouts. And NONE of the "liberal media" noticed this during the 2000 election, when this was considered one of the few things Bush did as governor of Texas worth talking about.

4. No child left behind was a ploy
to destroy the public education system in the US. After a few failed years they have to turn these schools into charter schools. AKA privatized education. The testing is flawed and there is no allowance for the retarded or disabled child. Wake up folks he had screwed the kids again. He never funded it.

5. Oh goodie, charter schools...
Sure is working great here in Calif.:

-----
-----

It had been a month since one of the nation's largest charter school operators collapsed, leaving 6,000 students with no school to attend this fall. The businessman who used $100 million in state financing to build an empire of 60 mostly storefront schools had simply abandoned his headquarters as bankruptcy loomed, refusing to take phone calls. That left Mr. Larson, a school superintendent whose district licensed dozens of the schools, to clean up the mess.

"Hysterical parents are calling us, swearing and shouting," Mr. Larson said in an interview in Oro Grande last week. "People are walking off with assets all over the state. We're absolutely sinking."

The disintegration of the California Charter Academy, the largest chain of publicly financed but privately run charter schools to slide into insolvency, offers a sobering picture of what can follow. Thousands of parents were forced into a last-minute search for alternate schools, and some are still looking; many teachers remain jobless; and students' academic records are at risk in abandoned school sites across California.

"Until the Charter Academy went into its tailspin, few people predicted that these crashes could be so bloody, but this has been a catastrophe for many people," said Bruce Fuller, a professor of education at the University of California, Berkeley. "The critics of market-oriented reforms warned of risks with the philosophy of let-the-buyer-beware, but in this case, buyers were just totally hung out to dry."
