I don't know where the polls are to be found, I only heard it on the Albany NPR affiliate, WAMC, which I trust. Not because they are NPR, but because the people who are WAMC, are great people.

I wanted his dad to run for President. That's how much I love the Cuomo family.

Somebody leaked what Obama said regarding Paterson running, and my guess is that it was Paterson's camp.

Paterson has been better in some ways than Obama (certainly less timid).

Sixty-one percent do not feel that Paterson has the "leadership skills" necessary to run the state.

Giuliani appears to have a higher view of himself as New York's next governor than actual New York voters do, inasmuch as about half of them do not want him involved in a statewide race at all.

Giuliani would lose a general election to Andrew Cuomo:

Cuomo -- 53%
Giuliani -- 39%

Cuomo also would defeat Rick Lazio:

Cuomo -- 64%
Lazio -- 18%

Governor Paterson badly loses to Cuomo in a Democratic primary race:

Cuomo -- 66%
Paterson -- 20%

The numbers for Giuliani are not terribly encouraging. For Paterson, they're disastrous.

One T. And it is hard for those of lesser status to 'throw Obama under the bus'. The President did that to Paterson already. Via 'unnamed sources' who were supposed to remain confidential, but whom spoke out anyway. They did not give names because doing that sort of politics in the open is self defeating. It is in fact, stupid. People here would vote the opposite of what any DC stiff tried to foist off on us, just to make the point. Outside interference is unwelcome in most places.
Of course going behind backs, speaking outside of confidence, smearing loyal Party fellows, this is what the 'faith community' does, all the time, so when Obama speaks religion, we know he supports gossip and backbiting, discrimination, harassing of those who support GLBT Equality, drug reform, in short, they will leap all over anyone who does not fall into lockstep with their atavistic, religionist, bigoted outlook on the world. Liars and backstabbers who proclaim they are too holy to allow others to have equal rights under the law. Hypocrites.

But I'm sure the Rahm didn't appreciate his assholishness, and I won't be surprised if something nasty is leaked to the press about Patterson before too long.
