Biden in Atlanta on Friday for flood briefing

1:58 pm September 24, 2009, by Aaron Gould Sheinin

Vice President Joe Biden will travel to Georgia on Friday to brief state and local leaders on federal response to this week’s devastating floods.

Biden will also meet with families affected by the floods, the White House announced. More detailis are to be released later Thursday.

Biden’s visit comes the day after President Barack Obama declared a federal emergency in four counties impacted by the flood.

Perdue asked for more than $16 million in direct federal aid. But the presidential declaration of an emergency will also make federal loans, grants and other resources available to homeowners, residents businesses impacted by the floods, which have claimed nine lives and caused more than $250 million in damage.

1. Why waste time and our money bailing out these cretins who make GA among the reddest states in THE
Union?

As long as Dems coddle and give in to the enemy, we will continue to lose to them.

And know the truth - even with a "majority" of seats in Congress, we are still losing every battle.

2. You're kidding, right? Wouldn't that be like idiot son ignoring black people
in New Orleans?

Your compassion is noted.

3. I have NO compassion for the enemy. This is a war in case you have not noticed and the other side
has already started shooting (Tiller, Sparkman, etc.).

We better wake up and fight back before it is too late.

6. Hey -- I live in Georgia. can you stop the BS Rhetoric?
It isn't needed. There are a lot of people who live here who aren't what you proclaim to be the enemy.

11. Then stop putting pukes into every god-damned political office. The country should not suffer
because of the stupidity of YOUR state.

15. How much time and money have you contributed to help Dems challengers in the South?
Edited on Fri Sep-25-09 10:26 AM by Clio the Leo
I'd venture to guess prob. not as much time and money as Raine and I have.

Here is the website of the presumptive Democratic candidate for TN-3 where I live. You will notice she takes Visa, MC and American Express

13. Uh, Atlanta (where I live) is a blue city.
Your lack of compassion doesn't surprise me though. I feel sad for you.

8. I can assure you, the only thing he'd be in danger of here....
..... is me hugging him too tightly.

Sadly, census workers are not allowed to take a gang of 20 snipers with them everywhere they go.

You should no more judge an entire region by one incident than *I* judge the Northeast or California by the incidents of police brutality against citizens of color that I have seen on the news.

Racism is a plague across this great country.

5. lol rather than indulge some other folks, I'll reply to you....
Glad to see that the WH cares about all of its citizens. Sure, some of them voted against the President, this part of the world has as many racist red-necks as the rest of the country does.

But SOME Of those people ..... quite a few of them, worked and voted for this administration.

And some of those voters are American heros. The light skinned gentleman in the middle has seen more "war" and bloodshed in this country than probably any of US here have.

And some of the residents of GA went to NC and knocked on some doors.

ANYONE who thinks that the south is the exclusive repository for for racist, anti-Obama thought can respectfully kiss my ass. (Again, not directed at you Babs)

Lol, I can make it to Atlanta in two hours ..... what time is he supposed to be there? Do I need to put my shoes on now? :)

17. And there are racist backward types in every state, even in Connecticut
Heck, Glenn Beck lives here. There is crappy people in every single state. And good people in every state. Penalizing those who DID vote for Obama (the poor, who are always most effected by these natural disasters) seems ridiculous.

And Joe is coming here to CT for one of our reps, Chris Himes. OMG. If only I did not have such things as kids to pick up from preschool and kindergarten and that sort of thing. ;-)

20. Thank you for adding your photos and your words

I saw Biden speak and I was thrilled to see him speak with compassion and with a clear picture of what the government will do to help.

He was wonderful!

My thoughts turned to Katrina and it made me so angry at Bush all over again -- where WAS he --- no where in sight for so many- what a stain he was on our country.

only this time with the thought of helping all the citizens who need it..not leaving them stranded on fookin' rooftops.

Thank you, VP Biden, for being down there in Atlanta, Georgia.

I was down around there last summer..hard to believe it got so much rain..when we were there, a bit of a dry spell was going on in August, 2008.
