2. Protester wasn't arrested. He was snatched!
Edited on Fri Sep-25-09 06:51 PM by IndianaGreen
Based on the video, it doesn't look like there was much going on until those thugs in camies showed up and threw the protester in the back of the Gestapo sedan.

6. Key qualifier: "Based on the video".
I saw this clip at HuffPost earlier and it strikes me as a bit puzzling. Not saying it was staged but...

14. Based on the video
you can't tell what he was "snatched" for. Jump to conclusions much?

3. How can you judge, you don't know why they picked the guy up
by the video. It doesn't appear he was harmed in any way, I am not even sure if they were even armed.
Paramilitary unit wearing camis! That is like calling weapons assault weapons because they look scary. Why did they pick him up?

5. Did you see any badges in the video? I didn't!
I swear, if they started to arrest thousands of people in the middle of the night, many of you would find a reason to justify it, just as many "good Germans" did.

7. Did you ask them for their ID? I'm sure they had ID
in their wallet. How do you know they didn't show the guy their ID when they approached him? I'm not even sure they were even armed. Did they taser him, did they draw a weapon on him, did they club him, did they kick him, did you see them harm him in any way?

I wouldn't be surprised if these goons were paramilitary contractors.

9. By your logic it would be just fine if a bunch of
crazies just burned down Pittsburgh. Why are you so quick to judge law enforcement when you have no idea what actually happened. It's a youtube video, is it even real?

16. Law enforcement would have been in uniform and they would have followed proper procedure
This was something out of the Blackwater playbook.

Pittsburgh did not have to host the G-20. The G-20 could have met in Atlantis for all the good they do!

17. They have security in Pittsburgh, they don't want a replay of
what they had in Seattle a few years ago. What proper procedure would that be? Maybe they were FBI or Secret Service? Is the damn video real or is it just staged? Was the guy harmed?

Edited on Sat Sep-26-09 02:44 PM by doc03
during the whole G-20 meeting. There was only around $50,000 in property damages and 18 arrests. The TV reported this morning that the COPs answered fewer calls than on the normal workday downtown during the conference..TV also showed the you tube video and the COPs in black had Pittsburgh Police shoulder patches.

20. Battery, assualt, unlawful arrest, emotional damages, punitive damages, etc.
The G20 already released a statement disavowing these nuts.

Apparently they were hired private security (hence the "mall cops) but were never given permission to arrest anybody, and those uniforms were not even official. They thought the guy they arrested was somebody who had just vandalized a store, and took it upon themselves to bring him in.

Big fucking mistake on their part.

25. According to Channel 2 KDKA News this morning
there was a total of about $50,000 in property damages, 18 people jailed and no injuries reported during the G-20 meeting. They also showed the video from youtube, they said police arrested the man for breaking windows. With a total of only $50,000 in property damage he must have been one of the few bad apples in the bunch. I saw pictures of the COPs in black riot gear and they did have a Pittsburgh Police shoulder patch. The guys in the camo no doubt did too, the quality of the video wasn't that good. Also in the video they had a sidebar on each side with their propaganda, who knows what it covered up. You couldn't hear what transpired either with the background music they dubbed in. So if you want to believe a bunch of hooligans over the people that are paid to protect us go ahead.

23. Protesters: Police triggered mayhem--Photo of the march against G-20

Protesters: Police triggered mayhem
5:26 pm

From Paula Ward, David Templeton and Rich Lord

Some of the protesters arrested yesterday said today that police overreaction caused much of the mayhem that bled from the afternoon into the night in Lawrenceville, Bloomfield, Shadyside and Oakland.

Ryan Beaupit, a 17-year-old Pitt freshman, said he was just trying to get away from advancing riot police and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He said he was sprayed with some kind of gas and wrestled to the ground around 11: 45 p.m. He has a gash near his knee, marks on his back and other mild injuries.

He was arrested when police caught him in a stairwell leading up to the pedestrian bridge crossing above Forbes Avenue.

"I think the police overreacted," he said, adding they also "made rude comments to me" and threatened him with jail if they caught him again.

"It's not something I want to experience again."

Similarly, Josh Berman, an 18-year-old Pitt Freshman, said he was trying to obey an order to disperse, but found tear gas behind him and police coming from both sides. He pulled on a bandana and goggles to protect himself from gas, which seemed to earn him the ire of the police.

26. Oh give me a break, triggered mayhem. Pittsburgh
TV Channel 2 KDKA this morning reported a total of around $50,000 in property damages, 18 arrests and no reported injuries during the whole G-20 affair. They said the Police answered fewer calls than on an average day downtown. I would hardly call it mayhem. KDKA showed that youtube video and said Pittsburgh police (not Blackwater, CIA or Russians) arrested the guy for breaking several windows.
