Candidate says Obama called her racist, terrorist
http://www.tennessean.com/article/20090926/NEWS0206/909260363/1009/NEWS02/Candidate+says+Obama+called+her+racist++terrorist

Former state Republican chairwoman and current 3rd House District candidate Robin Smith is claiming Democratic President Barack Obama has labeled her "everything from racist to terrorist to extremist."

Smith made the comments in a recent interview with the conservative Web site Pajamas TV, the Chattanooga Times Free Press reports.

Smith said then-candidate Obama made the claims about her following a Tennessee GOP Web ad last year that centered on wife Michelle's saying at a campaign event: "For the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country."

The May 2008 Web ad gained national attention and a rebuke from Obama in a TV interview.

"Whoever is in charge of the Tennessee GOP needs to think long and hard about the kind of campaign they want to run, and I think that's true for everybody, Democrat or Republican," he said.

"I also think these folks should lay off my wife."

Smith spoke about the backlash in the Web interview.

"From personal experience, I can tell you ... I was called everything from racist to terrorist to extremist by Barack Obama himself when we put the Michelle Obama video out," she said.

1. Ah, the victim card. Favorite canard of the GOP--and as usual, complete bullshit.

17. It is bullshit because Obama doesn't talk or project that behavior
He is a gentleman, and has distinctly proven it time and again.

She's no different than the girl who scratch 'B' on her cheek - looking for sympathy, attention AND of course, campaign contributions.

7. But of course, she didn't go public with this "slander" last year BECAUSE...
....wait a sec. When would Obama even have been in a position to that, anyway?

Some Obama supporters probably got mad at her, and now she's saying it was the candidate "himself." What a liar.

12. That totally goes against what we know of his character.
Even when he's been 'upset' about something, it's usually for good reason AND he tells the truth about the situation. We saw that with the Gates arrest and his calling Kanye West a "jackass."

It is not in his character to go around calling people "racist" and "terrorists." As a matter of fact he AVOIDS the topic of race most of the time, and mentions it only when it is brought up to him by someone else (again, Gates arrest, Rev. Wright, etc.).

This lady doesn't exactly have truth on her side, if the organization she's with has already tried to smear POTUS and FLOTUS.

Good luck with that, lady. Your 'base' might not be accustomed to logic or thinking for themselves, but the rest of us are, and you're not fooling anyone.

But given her claim, I don't at all doubt that she is, at least a racist.

18. TN GOP in hot water over Obama attacks (Feb 2008)
... From the Knoxville News Sentinel yesterday: The state GOP on Monday issued a press release under the headline "Anti-Semites for Obama" ... The offices of both Sen. John McCain and Sen. Lamar Alexander denounced the press release, and Sen. Alexander reportedly told TN GOP chair Robin Smith to retract it ... The Republican National Committee has reportedly put the TN GOP on notice ... Tennessee Republican Chair Robin Smith is so far standing by Bill Hobbs, the TN GOP Communications Director who put out the press release ... http://southernstudies.org/2008/02/tn-gop-in-hot-water-over-obama-attacks.html

19.  Post Politics: Smith can't outrun Hobbs legacy (City Paper 2009)
Sunday, July 12, 2009 at 11:00pm
By A.C. Kleinheider

... On the very first day of her announcement, the Associated Press asked pointed questions regarding her stint as TNGOP chairman including the infamous press release entitled "Anti-Semites for Obama" that made national news ... For Smith to try to pull a 180 going from firebrand to statesman in a few months is not realistic. Nor is it advisable. While Smith may want to be seen in a different light, one cannot simply change their image on a whim ...

As a party chair, Hobbs was a useful tool to Smith ... It is easy to forget, but there was a point in his tenure at the party where Hobbs was at risk. Whether they implied it on the record or said it off the record, many Republicans wanted Hobbs removed from his position. But there was always one thing standing in their way: Robin Smith ...

21. Other stupid lies republicans tell about President Obama:
~he's a socialist
~he's a communist
~he's a fascist
~he wants to kill your grandma
~he's not American
~he wants to indoctrinate your children

So forgive me if I don't believe a single word from any republican about President Obama.
