AR-Sen: GOP Smurfs Beating Lincoln in New Poll
Rasmussen (9/28, likely voters):

Blanche Lincoln (D-inc): 39
Gilbert Baker (R): 47
Undecided: 8

Blanche Lincoln (D-inc): 41
Curtis Coleman (R): 43
Undecided: 11

Blanche Lincoln (D-inc): 40
Tom Cox (R): 43
Undecided: 11

Blanche Lincoln (D-inc): 41
Kim Hendren (R): 44
Undecided: 10
(MoE: ±4%)

Back in August, Public Policy Polling put out a release with Lincoln in tossups with some of these same names. Research 2000, more recently, had a somewhat healthier diagnosis: she was ahead of all of these guys by anywhere between 7 and 19 points, but she only did so while scoring in the mid-40s -- well under that magical 50% line. Whether or not Rasmussen is painting an exaggerated picture (and, arguably, they're not that far out of line with PPP) is questionable, but the fact remains that Lincoln hasn't posted a higher showing than the low or mid-40s in any poll we've seen this year.

1. (shrug) We're not losing much. And if she wants to help her chances....
become a Democrat, and campaign on success.

2. She's going to lose anyway. So she might as well help the country on her way out,
but sadly the polls will make her more conservative.

10. Exactly
She's delusional if she thinks voting with the republicans will save her job.

What's that saying? Given a choice between a real and fake republican, they will pick the real one every time...

3. No big surprise. If you're going to act like a Republican...
...why shouldn't voters go for the real thing?

Seriously, many voters don't understand policy, but they do understand integrity. Selling your Senate votes to the highest bidder doesn't show much integrity.

Lincoln is a Dem I would have a hard time voting for.

4. If she can't vote with us on the most important issues, what good is she anyway?
If she loses, she'll go down with the biggest shrug ever from most democrats.

7. Big Deal...
She's a defacto Republican anyway...might as well replace her with the real thing and get her out of the caucus!

9. I have no compassion for moribund DLC members who sold us out
She can enjoy her retirement and sudden re-hiring as a lobbyist or industry insider a few years from now.

It's where DLCers belong, anyways.

We should redefine what "moderate" means in the party by getting rid of the corporatists and replacing them with economic populists. At least those kinds of Democrats aren't up to their elbows in bribes.

I have been tracking Lincoln's votes for years, along with the rest of the Democratic senators.....Lincoln, Landrieu, Carper, Conrad, and the Nelson twins are in need of culling in favor of better Democrats.

12. This would only concern me because loss of Dem seats means GOP chairmanship of the commitees.
That would be a true disaster.

14. She needs to embrace her constituents desire for a robust public option...
That would get her a victory.

You never, ever win running while chasing the oppositions issues.

15. As if it makes a difference...
Given the choice between repuke and repuke-lite, the sheeple will go with the real thing.

Lincoln deserves to lose. We need a real Democrat!

17. Do we really want another nutty Republican in the Senate?
I think not and Arkansas Pugs are as wacky as they come. I'm not thrilled with Lincoln's position on health care, but I don't want her to lose. All that aside, these polls are horse pucky, Rasmussen is Republican tool who isn't above releasing crap for manipulative reasons.
