Rockefeller has a good idea for a new amendment to the Finance bill
Just saw this at Daily Kos:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/10/1/788513/-Rockefeller:-Time-for-Insurance-Companies-to-Spend-Money-on-Actual-Care

I think the votes on this would be telling. They couldn't hide behind excuses so well.

3. Note that this is originally Al Franken's idea
From the same diary at Kos:
Sen. Franken has just introduced the Fairness in Health Insurance Act of 2009, which would mandate that 90% of the $485 billion of subsidies given to private insurers in the Senate Finance bill be spent on actual health care. Sen. Rockefeller liked the idea so much he plans to offer Franken's bill as an amendment in the Finance Cmte. tonight or tomorrow.

Franken is already taking a leadership position in the Senate. That's why the Republicans fought so hard to keep him out.
