Overheard in Copenhagen early this morning:
"Would His Excellency and Madame care to get a room?"

Anybody who didn't know who they were would wonder where President Obama was - since there's no one sitting behind his name card. And given how all up in her space he is, they might conclude that this Michelle Obama person described on the other namecard is a conjoined twin.

What an absolute delight to see how much our President and First Lady adore each other - and how they they have no problem showing it.

1. Where do you get off calling him "His Excellency" ?
I don't get that at all.

He's not a king.

And he certainly doesn't think himself as one.

In fact, I'm calling you out on it.

WTF?

4. Wow . . .
What a gratuitous response. Perhaps you are not aware that it is common for people in other countries to refer to our President as "His Excellency." It may not be proper protocol, but occurs frequently. THAT is what I was depicting.

6. It almost happened.
One of the titles suggested for the President when the framers of the Constitution created the job was "His Excellency". Also, "His Mightiness", "His High Mightiness, President of the United States and Defender of Our Liberties".

Imagine if the Sergeant-at-Arms had to introduce the President with one of those.

He's the PRESIDENT, which is a powerful enough of a title on its own.

Would we call a Prime Minister or a King something else besides their given title? I am asking. Fill me in if we do.

16. It's hilarious to see the other people sitting up straight, behaving themselves while our President
is all lit up, nuzzling, canoodling, and, from the look on his face and the expression on Michelle's, probably doing some major smack-talking . . .

Priceless.

whining was going on..I said, he had to go and at least try for Chicago and he and Michelle deserve a quick get away in Copenhagen.

I had no idea it would be so public:* :*

20. Touching
We're so used to seeing politicians and their spouses essentially cold toward one another, held together mainly by habit and convienience. It's touching to see the president and his wife so obviously deeply in love and unafraid to show it.
