The RW talking point: President Wins Nobel Peace Prize for his first 11 days in Office
This is what they will use to try to explain it away.

http://illinoisreview.typepad.com/illinoisreview/2009/10/president-wins-nobel-peace-prize-for-his-first-11-days-in-office.html

They absolutely ignore everything the committee has said.

DU detractors are already using this RW talking point.

2. So Obama did more in his first 11 days that was worthy of praise than Bush did in his whole 8 years.

15. Nominations for the prize had to have been made before Feb 1, 2009.

When did Obama do in those ten days to deserve a nomination?

Remember - Bush was nominated several times, and the wingnuts actively campaigned for him. Yet, the Nobel Committee was never in danger of awarding it to him.

Obama got it as much for who he isn't & what he hasn't done than for who he is & what he has done

21. It's sad that you can't see that one bright light in a sea of darkness must deserve notice.
But that doesn't mean that it's the brightest light in the world. Obama himself said as much: "I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments, but rather as an affirmation of American leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations."

One thing that sets liberals apart from conservatives is that liberals face the truth. You're denying it.

23. That doesn't change the FACT that the winner was determined also based on events since nominations.
And the committee spelled out things that happened well after the first 11 days as part of their reasoning.

You are wrong. Admit it. Move on.

Anybody can be nominated. I'm sure Georgie was nominated every year for his efforts at "peace", whatever they were.

20. Election platform
President Obama was elected by the American people partly on a platform of engaging other countries in peaceful diplomacy. His actions since then have shown that he is sticking to this path (maybe just not as fast as other may like).

This Nobel Peace Prize is as much a testament to the American People who want to move in a direction that will bring a greater peace to the world as it is to Obama's actions.

Well at least to the American people who voted for him. This is why the RW hates it.

Greg

27. To paraphrase Obama on Letterman: I actually was alive before the inauguration.
Stupid ass Republicans make the leap (even Huckabee, who criticized the Republican outrage at the award)of logic that the Nobel Peace Prize was only given to Obama for what he accomplished after he took office.

Obama-Lugar was passed in 2007 and was the most significant piece of disarmament legislation since the Carter Administration.
