Next time someone says President Obama didn't earn the Nobel Prize
Kindly say to him/her, well he was more deserving of it than Henry Kissenger who won it in 1973 - especially after what happened at Laos & Cambodia??....

1. I prefer "fuck you", personally. But there are many ways to skin a cat, no doubt...
They REALLY need to coin a new phrase for that, by the way.

3. And George Bush didn't really win the Presidency. Life can suck that way sometimes.

4. Reading this I don't see why Kissinger didn't get 2 or 3 peace
prizes...

http://archives.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/europe/04/24/uk.kissinger/

Earlier, a Spanish judge asked U.S. authorities for permission to question Kissinger about "Operation Condor," a concerted plot by former military dictatorships in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay to persecute and eliminate their opponents during the 1970s and 1980s.

On Tuesday, Britain refused Judge Baltasar Garzon's request for permission to question Kissinger while he is in London.

Garzon has said he only wants to question Kissinger as a witness, not a suspect, as part of his investigations into "Operation Condor."

On Monday, British human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell failed in his attempt to have Kissinger arrested in Britain for alleged war crimes under the Geneva Conventions Act.

Tatchell alleged that Kissinger's direction of the Vietnam War of the 1960s and 1970s amounted to a breach of British laws requiring people of all nationalities to observe the Geneva Conventions on the conduct of war.

5. My response is better.
It's a prize that's granted based on the judgment of somebody else. One doesn't earn it; there are no metrics such that if you do X, Y, and Z, then file a form in triplicate with supporting document, you get the prize.

It's awarded solely at the discretion of the Nobel Peace Prize Committee. There is no "earning." And "deserving" is so weaselly a word as to be meaningless: The only judges of "deserving" are the 5 members of the committee, and by awarding the prize they define the term in this context.

10. If no one is really deserving of the prize,
why not use a lottery to determine the winner?

11. not much of a response.
Kinda like saying "Well it wasn't the dumbest choice ever because look at that Kissinger choice." Why not make a case that Obama was truly deserving of the prize?

12. But with any President as head representative of the American people any person is saying they don't
Edited on Sat Oct-10-09 11:09 PM by GivePeaceAchance
deserve it for themselves, if they really feel the President don't deserve it. They need to show themselves some love and embrace their award. Regardless on any theory they have on him, he went out did the hard work and got back accolade of for and by the people.

They must embrace their shared glory in the award because regardless of any differences, it belongs to them to in sentiment, then once they see that be inspired.
