Pretend he wasn't in Crawford clearing brush and playing with tractors.

Pretend he read the memo.

What would have happened next?

2. A Pearl Harbor- like event to stampede Americans into allowing cheney to start wars for profit
:nuke: any way you look at the cheney/bush/halliburton malAdministration.

Only difference if he HAD read the bulletin: The Dick would have had to work a bit harder explaining that they tried to stop terrorist attacks, but they just didn't have the power, money, brownshirts required to be effective at keeping America safe.

Same results, slightly different PR requirements

7. That was the plan.
Even if they had allowed 9/11 to be avoided, the fix was in for the war in Iraq.

3. Two of the hijackers who had made the "terrorist watch list"
might have been detained for deportation, disrupting the plan a great deal, hopefully. That could have led to other errors and things that would possibly have led to finding out all about it. Investigating those hijackers and their activities could have led to more of them and more disruption.

5. It doesn't really matter if he read it or not.
He blew it off knowing that he wasn't going to do anything about it regardless of it's content.

6. "Pretend he read the memo".
Shouldn't that be "he pretended to read the memo".
