Fuster Cluck
Nancy Pelosi says a PO will be included in the final bill
Harry Reid says the trigger is a pretty good idea
But earlier Reid says he'll do whatever the President wants
President obama says the PO is the best way to get competition
So Reid then says he'll let the Senate do whatever they want
Nancy Pelosi says again that a PO will be included in the final bill
Snowe says she's open to the PO, then says the PO is a deal breaker
We need 50 vote to pass a bill
no...we need 60 votes to pass a bill
Over the last few months, four bills have come from the Senate and one from the House with a public option
over the last few weeks, only one bill has come from the Senate without a public option
the public option is dead
the public option is NOT dead

holy fuck

Can we get together in a room somewhere and come out with one, single, unified message? Is that too damned much to ask for? Instead, we get the Democratic Party cluster fuck, where some think the ship is sinking, and are hollering "Every man For Himself!" Yeah for unity in the face of no adversity!

Even if HCR is passed with a strong PO, if we lose the midterm elections, and lose our majorities in the House and Senate (yeah, I know the odds are long against, but IF it could happen...) we would have no one to blame but ourselves, and the dunderheaded nincompoops we have allowed to pretend to be our party's leadership.

At this moment, we dont deserve our majorities, but we must maintain them nonetheless. Will someone please stand up and herd these freaking cats?

3. They keep their jobs, while accomplishing nothing.
They rehash *hit for months and still get paid. These folks would not last one minute on the outside.

4. It varies from day to day depending on who is paying each one more
Lobbyists are the scourge of humanity. It no longer matters what the "people" want.

.... this is an historic time .... history's milestones are rarely rolled into place by singleness of thought.

And it might reassure you to read this thread...

And to Harry's credit, he said what he said about the trigger almost a month ago .... a LOT has changed since then.

9. "A month ago"! It pays
to read the details. I don't take all this up and down to heart..all I know is the President and everyone who wants the PO will be working their very best to get what they want and what the country(the sane part) wants.

"President Obama To Rally Grassroots Troops On Health Care Tuesday"

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/10/president-obama-to-rally-grassroots-troops-on-helath-care-tuesday.php?ref=fpa

President Obama will rally grassroots Organizing for America volunteers next week with the goal of making 100,000 calls to Congress in support of health care.

TPMDC has learned that while on political travel in New York Tuesday, Obama will join his most active supporters via Webcast into hundreds of "Time to Deliver" house parties arranged by OFA, the spinoff of his presidential campaign housed at the DNC.

The parties are easy, OFA explains: "If you can print out some call sheets and info about the president's plan - and make sure volunteers have a comfortable place to sit -- you can host a successful call party."

The president, who has relied on his campaign supporters to help pass legislation and during hearings for his Supreme Court nominee, will participate in the parties to pump everyone up for a final push.

11. Bless your
little letter writing heart~ I got an email last night from the area Obama for President, chief organizer.

Pretty exciting..

"Hello, everyone. Mohawk Valley for Obama is now Organizing for America - Mohawk Valley. Our mission is to help support the President we elected last November and enact the changes we worked for so hard last year. It begins with health care reform and it begins now. I'm using our old mailing list as a starting point (if you'd rather not receive e-mails, please let me know!)

Our immediate tasks are:

1. Mobilize support for health care reform.

On October 20th the House and the Senate will be debating their respective health care bills. Please call Congressman Arcuri (202- 225-3665 or 315-793-8146/8147 on Tuesday October 20th to urge him to support a bill that includes a robust public option. Tell him his vote on this issue is vitally important to you.

Call Senators Schumer (202-224-6542 or 315-423-5471) and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (02-224-4451 or 315-448-0470) with the same message.

Call your friends and family and ask them to do the same.

Go to http://my.barackobama.com/deliver for more information on how to get involved.

There will be a phone bank on 10/20 in Syracuse reaching out to Obama supporters from the last campaign and urging them to call their Representatives and Senators with the same message. We are attempting on short notice to create a phone bank here in Utica. Please watch your email and my.barackobama.com for further details.

2. Mobilize support for the President's Agenda.

The President has an ambitious agenda for change and he needs our ongoing support. Upcoming issues include clean energy, reform of the financial system, job creation, education for the 21st century, and rebuilding America's infrastructure. The grass roots campaign that elected President Obama is even more crucial to advancing the change we need. To achieve it, we need to stay focused and active, especially by showing our Representative and Senators that we have their back as they support the President. To be candid, we dropped the ball this summer by allowing the extreme right wing to dominate the debate on health care. We have to fight back on that issue and not make the same mistake again.

Please forward this email to other Obama supporters and ask them to take action. If they would like to be a part of Organizing for America - Mohawk Valley, just send me their e-mail address.

Much thanks for your past and future efforts on behalf of President Obama and our country."

6. REAL reform
was lost the minute single payer was taken off the table. Everything else is just a game.

13. 45,000 per year will die for ANOTHER FOUR YEARS under current proposals
If we are doing incrementalism, the only thing that makes sense is opening Medicare to everyone.

8. The most confusing one to me is the 60 vote thing
Edited on Thu Oct-15-09 09:56 AM by high density
Why is there this desire to placate the Blue Cross Dogs and Snowe at all costs? A year from now nobody is going to remember what the vote was. If the bill they pass is a disaster, the Democrats and Obama will forever be blamed for it no matter if it was 50+Biden or 60 votes. It is NEVER going to be a bipartisan bill by any means.

14. I'm just as disgusted as the OP, and disgusted, as well, by the poor
coverage and misleading mess the M$M is making of this disaster.

People are losing coverage every day, people are having their insurance cut in half, with c0-pays, higher premiums, etc.

Meanwhile, Congress and the President are not showing leadership we elected them all to execute.
