I heard a guest on NPR saying that Olympia Snowe is being used as benchmark to control the Blue'Cross'Dogs . ie if she votes for the bill - there will be enormous pressure for all blue dogs to vote for the bill .. plus there is the Joe Lieberman factor (who is openly against PO) as there are bunch of Insurance companies headquartered in CT.

Even with Snowe and Collins voting for the bill - getting to 60 is going to be a fight.

I dont blame Harry Reid and Whitehouse making good noises about the trigger.

1. I will say this about healthcare. Mandates without a public option
is the END of the Democratic Party.

If there is this bullshit trigger. Then their better not be mandates.

2. Very likely.....
.... as was the wave of GOP-ers (Schwarzenager, Bloomberg who I realize is not a Republican this week, etc) .... they provided cover for Snowe's vote and any Blue Dogs or moderate Republicans who want to join her.

3. That's exactly what it is.
And I understand their reasoning. The thing is, a public option would be the only chance for this bill to be anywhere near effective.
