Rightwing Voters: Obama's Success = Destruction of USA
— By David Corn | Fri October 16, 2009

snip//

These conservatives repeatedly asserted that Obama has a grand plan to wreck the United States by both ruining the economy and destroying civil liberties. The report notes:

Conservative Republicans do not oppose Obama’s policies simply because they think they are misguided or out of partisan fervor. Rather, they believe his policies are purposely designed to fail. When they look at the totality of his agenda, they see a deliberate effort to drive our country so deep into debt, to make the majority of Americans so dependent on the government, and to strip away so many basic constitutional rights that we are too weak to fight back and have to accept whatever solution he proposes.

But the focus group participants, who expressed angry disappointment with the Republican Party and its leaders for not mounting a more fierce opposition, did note that something of an "underground movement" is building to resist Obama's plot. And they identified Fox News, Glenn Beck, and the so-called Tea Parties as manifestations of this nascent uprising.

So is this a problem for Obama? Probably not. The White House can dismiss this group as a right-wing fringe. The real dilemma is for the Republican Party. How can it speak to (or appease) these voters without appearing extreme and without alienating reasonable Republicans and independents? After all, GOP chairman Michael Steele, Republican congressional leaders, and the party's 2012 presidential contenders will have a tough time remaining in the real world while courting conservatives who reside somewhere else. But if GOP leaders don't join the underground movement hailed by these conservatives, won't that indicate that they, too, are part of the Obama conspiracy?

1. An "underground movement" promoted by a news corporation owned by a billionaire...
with multi-millionaire scripted mouthpieces...

Gullible Fox News believers are getting their "dissent" direct from the corporate teat.

12. Encouraged by "genuine grass roots" groups funded by more right wing angels.
Those amoral millionaires who run FreedomWorks and Americans for Prosperity are taking the angry desperation of people who've been foreclosed and watched billions go to the wealthy and turning it away from where it should be-- corporate power and plutocracy-- and focusing it on Big Government, symbolized by Mr. Change, President Obama.

And by trying to play bipartisan and appease conservative sentiment, the Democrats have allowed those amoral right wingers a lot of time to get their hateful campaigns going. Yes, it is now water under the bridge, but had Democrats come out strongly in the beginning of the health care debate to point out how private insurers were hurting all of us and pushing Medicare for All Who Choose It as the public option, we would be in a lot better shape right now.

The peculiar pretending that Republicans care about bipartisanship has taken too much time and allowed those cold, cruel manipulators running FreedomWorks and Americans for Prosperity to twist the minds of the teabagger types to shooting themselves in the foot. They've carefully manipulated the anti-reform messaging to an anti-government theme that will then be escalated enormously when President Obama tries to get the USA to reduce its carbon emissions. I can imagine the hard right PR guys telling the desperate teabaggers that President Obama is working for a One World Government and will take over their gas and electric supplies.

2. They're mental
First of All if Obama is successful it will be because the USA is succeeding and growing economically.

Their is no logic to this stupidity. The only reason they want to see Obama fail is because they are a bunch of ignorant racist who can't stand to see a black man reside over the presidency and succeed.

It's no coincidence that Obama has a stronger political opposition in the south.

5. How can you be accused of not accomplishing anything
in the first 9 months in office, then be blamed for destroying the country? They say he runs the danger of being overexposed and then if he takes a day off he should be working on all our problems.

It's horrible!!! President Obama is trying to make access to health care more affordable!!!! President Obama wants to make peace with other countries NOT war!!! President Obama wants to invest and spend money on community infrustructure and public works HERE on US and not on defense contractors for endless war!!! Run for the hills!!!!! Save us!!!!! It's all a horrible plot to bankrupt and enslave us all!!!!! Big Brother is nigh!!!!!

These people really need to get a clue!!!! I'd give them a *little* more credibility if they had been protesting Bushco along with the rest of us for the past 8 years as he neglected his responsibilities to protect 3000 people from getting killed on 9/11/01, facilitated the deaths of another 4000+ Americans when he launched an unprovoked and unnecessary "war of choice" in Iraq and caused the deaths of innumerable Iraqis, bankrupted our country by spending loads of money on his "war of choice" in Iraq and promoting economic policies that he and the Republicans in Congress had no plans to pay for, refused to investigate massive corruption by private contractors operating in Iraq and Afghanistan and, most importantly, took us to the "dark side" by making torture *legal* and dramatically increasing the powers of the Executive Branch, largely by simply taking them without even consulting Congress until the power grab had already been in effect for several years. Who's kidding who, really???? We were never brought closer to an actual dictatorship during any time in our country's history than we were during the past 8 years and it was pretty much only blind luck that Bush, Cheney, et. al were too incompetent to actually pull it off all the way.

Is America the only country terminally afflicted with people whom seem to believe that any and every attempt for people to come together in an effort to help EVERYBODY here is some kind of totalitarian plot?
