1. Thanks!
I caught part of it when my local PBS re-ran it this morning. It was a fun bash, but makes me miss Tito Puente. Wish he was there.

2. Unfortunately, PBS cut most all of the good commentary by George Lopez.

I guess they thought it too political.

Lopez had a joke about Lou Dobbs, and Limbaugh (even tho he thought better of that one during the telling, and censored himself). He also told President Obama if he ever needed ANYTHING, "we have your back."

Also, they cut the part where Jose Feliciano told President Obama that he thought he deserved the Nobel--- for getting the countries of the world talking to one another again. That was right before his solo number.

I watched it when it happened livestream on Whitehouse.gov, and then again later on PBS.

Good music. I liked that President Obama could have an hour to unwind a bit. He needs it.

3. I watched the Livestream and you could definitely see George
Lopez censoring himself mid-sentence at times. And he kept joking about the 'approved material". He was very funny anyway.

Some of his jokes were tamer versions of what he said in his recent HBO special, which was hilarious.

4. Loved it, and now have it on DVR!
the Backdrop was to-die-for.

On a personal note, I was glad to see Sheila E up there grooving, but especially I was overjoyed to see her dad, Pete Escovedo as the music director of the entire show. I grew up with Sheila E (she's in her 50s!) and her Dad here in the Bay Area. In the East Bay, her dad has been a permanent fixture in Jazz/Latin music business forever....and has had a few clubs in Oakland (none which lasted successfully). Her first cousin was my best friend for a long time, and Sheila E. was present at multiple family events (Weddings, baby Showers, etc...). Her mom is Creole, so she's Black and she's Hispanic.

I loved watching Sheila E drumming back in the day!
