'I, as a physician, could simply stamp a piece of paper and cause the death of a patient'. (See
http://www.michaelmoore.com/sicko/news/article.php?id=9983 ).
That's from a September 2007 statement by Dr. Linda Peeno (who is portrayed by Laura Dern in the Paramount film first broadcast on Showtime in 2002-- see
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0317310 ).
Since 1996, Peeno has testified before Congressional panels about the deadly powers of "managed care" physician-bureaucrats; Michael Moore's 'Sicko' has a brief segment about her. Do you remember her?
I have not seen 'Damaged Care' on TV or cable in years, and certainly not since this summer's ridiculous Republican 'Death Panel' charges began against Obama's health reform initiative. Do you find the absence of such a directly relevant film from the airwaves as odd as I do?
Certain films are just "bad for business"--"Blood Diamond' comes to mind alongside 'Damaged Care'.
I've often wondered whether such films sometimes would potentially cause so much damage to a corporation's profits that the corporation would buy up the film rights and prevent the film from being shown--or entangle the film in the kind of legal limbo that often prevents other films from being shown or transferred from one medium to another (Think 'Eyes on the Prize').
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SAW 'DAMAGED CARE'?
WHAT'S YOUR OPINION?
