There was a crowd of people, right? So how come nobody saw anything?

4. The woman named Brenda from the
Huntington News bulleton board claims to have seen the whole incident. She claims Phil Purlock statted shoving people first and dropped the sign himself. She also claims that Purlock then went and called the press from a local establishment.

I wonder how the photographer (Randy Snyder) who works for the Herald Dispatch but was on a free lance assignment with AP at the time, fits in because it really does seem a little convienient. There are no photos of the "alleged incident" but there are photos of the little girl crying.

This is so obviously a set up. But as long as Purlock remains the only media eyewitness he will continue to set the terms of the story.

6. The account of "Brenda" doesn't match with the account of others
Maybe she wasn't present all the time.

"Brenda"
"Phil gave his son a sign and pushed the boy in front of him. Some young democrats tried to cover Phil's sign with their own. The boy dropped the sign and a worker grabbed at it. Phil then shoved the kid. When Phil's sign was covered up he placed his young daughter on his shoulders and gave her the sign."

"They did not take the sign from the child's hands...he dropped it. PHIL took the sign from his daughter himself."

"Again, TT, I will say that Parlock himself took the sign from his daughter. No one grabbed it from her hands. The sign was so badly worn between having been hidden wherever it was on his body and the mist that it fell apart."

"They simply held signs in front of her and Phil took his Bush/Cheney sign back."

In the same thread, "The Great Society" writes:

"After he got in the event and pulled out the sign he was not supposed to have, people in the crowd simply tried to stand in front of him. The sign wasn't torn out of his hands until he verbally provoked people in the crowd."

DUer ann_coulter_is_a_man writes:

"i was at the front waiting to shake edwards' hand, but two of my union friends (very good friends, whose credibility i vouch for 100%)at the back saw it all.

<...>

"a friend of mine who saw it has told me that as parlock repeatedly kept pulling out signs as they were taken from him, one of the union officials said to him "look, maybe you'd better go-you're getting your daughter scared" that's when parlock put the sign into her hands in defiance."

then someone grabbed it from her-oddly enough, no one recognized him, adding weight to the parlock's son as the ripper conspiracy"

10. I believe Brenda who was there.
One of the other accounts is second hand,

plus the other first hand account the person left and didn't see the so-called "incident." Given that this Purlock guy always claims someone is after his signs (1996, 2000, 2004) I wouldn't be surprised if the entire thing isn't fabricated.

It's just too convenient that the photographer was there for the crying child but somehow didn't record the rest of the story.

i was at the front waiting to shake edwards' hand, but two of my union friends (very good friends, whose credibility i vouch for 100%)at the back saw it all.

here's what i put in another thread (i'm lazy and don't feel like typing it again)

"a friend of mine who saw it has told me that as parlock repeatedly kept pulling out signs as they were taken from him, one of the union officials said to him "look, maybe you'd better go-you're getting your daughter scared" that's when parlock put the sign into her hands in defiance."

then someone grabbed it from her-oddly enough, no one recognized him, adding weight to the parlock's son as the ripper conspiracy

another thing: they were giving out union shirts in line, which makes it very, very possible

that's as much as i know, but i can inquire further tomorrow when i call them if anyone needs more info

there are some others in this thread too

5. Atrios' blog has the goods
Atrios has a great photo of the family, and kinda-sorta alleges that the "union sign-tearing thug" may have been a mole, and member of Parlock's own family.

Good, good stuff. Much to chew on.

8. Lois Pauley of Huntington moved away from Parlock too early, but she
describes what happened before:

"Lois Pauley of Huntington said she saw part of the incident at the airport. Pauley said she was there with her father, sister and son.

<...>

As Edwards neared the spot where Parlock stood, he reached into his pants legs and removed his Bush-Cheney signs, Pauley said.

<...>

"The only thing I saw that happened was I saw people trying to cover up his signs with Edwards signs," Pauley said. She said she saw Parlock hoist Sophia onto his shoulders so she could hold a Bush-Cheney sign above the crowd.

Pauley said she moved away from Parlock at that point because she feared something bad was about to happen."

9. Thanks all
I'm just surprised the news isn't full of witnesses saying "yes that is what happened" or "no, he's full of crap."
