It's simple: Bush lied about Iraq.
Edited on Sat Sep-18-04 10:12 AM by kentuck
That's the bottom line. American troops are dying in Iraq because George Bush lied. And he lied intentionally. He invented evidence of WMDs, nuclear materials, and unseen threats. And he unilaterally invaded a country that was not a threat to us.

It doesn't matter if John Kerry has a strategy or not. We are there because George Bush lied. Just as he lied about the cost of his Medicare program. Just as he lied about the number of jobs his "taxcuts" were going to create. Just as he has lied about his military record. Just as he has lied about his drug use.

And because of his lies, somebody will have to clean up his messes. Or they keep him around for four more years and clean up even more of his messes. He is not going to stop lying. We are stuck in the quagmire of Iraq because of lies. That's the bottom line.

1. agreed
how is it that so many have swallowed this whole? what kind of psychological warfare is this that people can't fathom these simple truths? how is it that there are those like ourselves who are immune to the psycho manipulation.

i used to laugh a the talk of lizard people, but things are just too weird right now. of course there are no lizards, but something mighty fishy is going on!

2. "Character counts', the Republicans used to say...

and compulsive, intractable, long-standing dishonesty speaks to character.

The Dems seem to be missing the boat on this. The pundits keep yammering that no one cares about what happened 30+ years ago. As usual, they miss the point; but the Dems should be connecting the dots for them.

What happened re. Bush TANG is relevant becuase it speaks to CHARACTER. Someone who connives, lies, cheats, misrepresents, evades uses pressure and influence 30 years ago ( there is absolutly persuasive evidence now; I site the interview with Killian's secretary... regardless of whether or not she persionally typed "the documents") and then uses the same arsenal as president to mislead the public on crucial matters of state 30 years later HAS NOT CHANGED. It is his in his CHARACTER to do so.

Character counts.

6. Bush lied about Iraq
and Kerry should call Bush a LIAR. Stop with the "He misled us"..."HE LIED, HE LIED, HE LIED, HE LIED, HE LIED" Call the LIAR what he is.

Give this asshole another 4 more years...we won't have to worry about WHO will clean up his bigger mess. The country will be finished. They will NEVER relinquish power. This election is our only hope.

7. They ALL Lied (a handy liar flyer)
DICK LIED.
“Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein
now has weapons of mass destruction.”
—Speech at VFW 103rd Natl. Convention, Aug. 26, 2002
(There were many doubts. Cheney had clandestine meetings
with the CIA to pressure them into producing intelligence
that would justify invading Iraq.)

COLIN LIED.
“On the left is a close-up of one of the four chemical
bunkers. The two arrows indicate the presence of sure
signs that the bunkers are storing chemical munitions.”
—Remarks to the United Nations, Feb. 5, 2003
(The bunkers were not storing chemical munitions. No
stockpiles of banned weapons have been found in Iraq.)

DONALD LIED.
“We know that has an active program for the
development of nuclear weapons.”
—Interview with Infinity-CBS Radio, Nov. 14, 2002
“We know where are.”
—This Week with George Stephanopolous, ABC, Mar. 30 2003
(They knew no such thing.)

CONDI LIED.
“In retrospect, knowing that some of the documents…
were, indeed, forgeries…had we known that at the time,
we would not have put it in. And had there been even a
peep that…the director of Central Intelligence did not
want it in, it would have been gone.”
—Face the Nation, CBS, July 13, 2003
(The director of Central Intelligence had written Ms. Rice in
October 2002 that the claim was in doubt. CIA Director Tenet
also called Ms. Rice’s deputy to warn against using the
claim. They used it anyway to bolster their case for war.)

DUBYA LIED.
“The British government has learned that Saddam
Hussein recently sought significant quantities of
uranium from Africa.”
—State of the Union Address to Congress, Jan. 28, 2003
(Bush had been told the Niger uranium claim was in doubt,
but needed to justify invading Iraq. Our government misled
the British government.)

Lying to congress is a felony.
Starting a war on false pretenses
against a country that didn’t attack us
is even worse. Hundreds of our soldiers
are dead as a result of this deliberate
campaign of misinformation.

The Republicans in congress think
all this is just fine, and refuse to
acknowledge the obvious pattern
of deception. Let’s vote them out in
November—the people who did these
things and those who protect them.
