10. One small, semi-bright note on VA and NJ ...
Governors don't get to vote in Congress, so the damage they can inflict is pretty much limited to their own states.

Small comfort, I know, but it's something.

Edited on Wed Nov-04-09 01:05 AM by fujiyama
Lautenberg is getting old though. I think he's in good health, but it may be worth considering stepping down and giving someone else a shot next year. I'd hate to see him have to go - and get replaced by a Christie replacement that too.

14. HOFFMAN THROWS IN TOWEL
http://www.watertowndailytimes.com/article/20091103/NEWS09/911039947

Democrat Bill Owens is leading in the 23rd Congressional District race.

The Plattsburgh attorney has 60,458 votes compared to Conservative Doug Hoffman, a Lake Placid CPA, with 56,174 votes.

Dede Scozzafava, a Republican who dropped out of the race Saturday, has 6,796 votes.

There were more than 10,000 absentee votes sent out before the election and some 5,800 were returned and must be counted. More absentee ballots, if sent before the deadline, could still be received.

Owens now leads in Jefferson, St. Lawrence, Franklin, Clinton and Essex counties.

16. Just saw this on MSNBC re the concession - this is the best news tonight and
what I was hoping to hear.

The GOP lost a seat and that is a great thing. Sarah Palin came out publically for this moron and has egg splat all over her face. A democrat just won a seat that has been Republican since just about forever.

A direct slap in the face to the interferring teabagger crowd, from a place that just told Palin to mind her own fucking business in the future. Good deal.

21. MSNBC... Tweety Called Election For Owens... Had Some Tea-Bagger Babbling,
blubbering all over the place! Regardless, Maine's referendum STILL in play and closing... that would be a coup!

I'm NOT crazy about Blomberg (mucho money) and Corzine ties to Goldman... but perhaps Christie will turn out to be even worse! Good testing ground. And between Bloomberg & Corzine, I'm hearing that close to $400 million were spent between the BOTH of them to win!

THIS KIND OF MONEY NEEDS TO BE PURGED, regardless of party!! If we can't keep people from spending MILLIONS, the little people will NEVER get a leg up! AND for all the money Bloomberg poured in, he didn't win by much!!

I do take some comfort, even in loss that a tiny victory for money purge is in it's infancy! Thought it's an itsey-bitsey, teeny-weeny start!!

So they lost, I'm not crying croc tears... it's the MOOLAH that has concerned me for so long!

Edited on Wed Nov-04-09 01:15 AM by fujiyama
It's pretty much a wash overall tonight. I would have been sort of disappointed if all three were losses though.

I haven't heard anything terribly great about Corzine as gov. and it sounds like Deeds ran a really shitty campaign. Let's just hope nothing happens to the Dem senators from the two states!
