of the upper class in other words move further to the left. America wants health care, jobs, and card check. If run as a repuke America will vote for the repuke. You better run as a progressive.

But Corzine did not seem overly conservative. It was property taxes there, although we have high property taxes here in CT too and don't freak out about it.

16. Obama's economics team is heavily weighted toward Wall St.

Obama's economic policies are the reason why I'm upset with him at the moment.

He's done well in some other areas, and is clearly better than McCain (God forbid), but I don't see a lot of light at the end of the jobs tunnel.

What's more, I'm beginning to think that the Dems as a group don't care.

I've been seeing economic weakness for several years, and I've been looking for an FDR in the party for some time, too, but I still can't see him or her.

Obama wants to be Lincoln, which is fine and good, but not exactly what I'm looking for now.

I don't think it'll work in 4 years but given Corzines ties to GS was made an issue of in NJ I would be expecting it.

I am not sure what Governors do other than grandstand like Tim Pawlenty and that Perry wack-o in Texas.

In 1994, Democrats lost a ton of seats and lost governorships in NJ, VA and NY.

In other news that seems to be overlooked, Democrats picked up two House seats (one of whom was very hard-fought
against the Palin/Beck axis of evil) and Charlotte, NC elected its first Democratic mayor in history. Also, exit polls prove
that for a big majority of voters, Presidential politics had nothing to do with their votes. NY-23 is a district that has been
in GOP hands since 1852 and I don't think Owens is anything but another upstate NY "centrist".

I agree with your sentiment, but I don't think what you said is exactly right. Charlotte has had a number of Democratic mayors. Charlotte's first black mayor, Harvey Gant, was a Democrat.

15. There was no message yesterday. It was an off year election with horrible Dem candidates for gov.

Stop buying into the frickin' hype. Dems won governor positions in both of these states back in 2001 when Bush had like a 90+% approval rating because of 9/11.

It had nothing to do with being or not being a progressive.

God this shit makes me want to punch kittens.

19. Well, that's the "Tom DeLay/Sarah Palin" strategy.

As NY-23 showed, it doesn't work. We didn't lose because we "weren't progressive enough" any more than Republicans lost because they "weren't conservative enough." There's quite literally no evidence to support your claim.
