2. I bet you these guys have been deployed multiple times. Witnessing death and destruction is
detrimental to the human psyche.

18. Not true, especially officers.
By the way, I was wrong, he didn't just sign up, he has been in since he graduated from Va TEch in 1997. He was enrolled in ROTC. He had a lot of time to decide to be in the Army, and being from Va Tech I'm sure he had options. He went to med school at Army expense too. He was not in it for the money.

6. My godson left Ft. Hood maybe 6 weeks ago after a tour in Afghanistan.
He had been stationed there for nearly a year before he was deployed, so it had been like a home to him. He did say that he had to go through a long period of testing after he came back to make sure he was mentally ok.

9. He left Ft. Hood 6 weeks ago and is now at Ft. Gordon.
He did a tour in Afghanistan and while there he decided to re-enlist for another 6 years. He loves the Army and it is his home now. Next spring he is scheduled to go to Germany. After another 6 years he will have 9 years in and probably should go for the 20 if he still loves it as much and he could come out with a pension at age 37 and begin another career (he has been trained and continues to be trained on computers).

You do your cause little justice.

Edited to add: Getting out of Iraq is Afghanistan should be on the top of the list for the president. However, using the deaths of these people to make "your point" is shitty. It took you all of what? two minutes, to burp in a crowded room.

11. It's another reason to pass comprehensive health care reform
that includes mental health care, and to get comprehensive mental health care for our battle-weary soldiers.

16. And?
When people are in school studying for degrees in social work or counseling, part of the curriculum often requires they go through counseling as well.

Mental health professionals need access to it too. EVERYONE does.

12. Some whackjob murdering people has nothing to do
with the pros or cons of war. Even if that was his reason -- it's unjustified. Nothing justifies this.

That kind of bullshit is exactly what wingnuts do -- use tragedies to justify their opinions.
