Obama is the reason we are even talking about health care
right now, instead of whether to pass even more tax cuts for the wealthy.

So excuse me for supporting him.

1. We elected Obama to champion health care
The voters did their part, now Obama must lead the charge or let us down. I will support him to the extent he supports
me.

3. We elected Obama to do every goddamn thing......
and don't even try to deny it.

Some have been ragging on him since day one,
and yet they expect the world from him, literally.

Excuse me if I don't give those who continuously announce they "elected" Obama
as much credit as they think they might deserve...
considering that most of them have not lifted one damn finger since they cast that vote,
except to type out some critique of any and everything they don't like,
while having their foot up his ass since before January 20th.

I'm not impressed with this kind of support,
especially after he clearly stated again and again,
speech after speech, that he couldn't do it without our help.

And then some feign surprise that it is a hard row.....
while they sit their asses on the sideline,
without even a mop or a bucket and unwilling to assist
yelling at him as to where the dirt is,
and shouting that he'd better hurry up and clean the shit up.....
and clean it up real good; that if he even has to lick it, so be it.

Yep. Bullshit. EACH AND EVERY major Democratic candidate in the primary talked about Health care. Saying "he is the reason for tha season" is a bit over the top. And if he is, assuming that's true, where the fuck was he for single payer? "We are the change we wish to see......We are who we've been waiting for..." so this is the fucking best he can do? My Gawd if the OP is true, what a sad thing that says.

5. Well the wealthy are still getting those tax cuts
Remember ..raising taxes during a recession?
This package out there is not real healthcare reform. So far this President has done little for main street and everything for the banks and Wall st.By the time this bill is debated and passed in the Senate it will look a $1.00 discount coupon for Walgreen's and that is about all we will get.

15. Those tax cuts expire next year and the proposed house bill raises them 5.3%

And you are full of shit. Plenty has been done for the non-wealthy. The auto bailout deals alone saved a multitude of main street jobs and favored the unions over the hedge fund investors.

35. I beg your pardon..
It was only after GM filed bankruptcy and made all sorts of concessions that GM was able to borrow from the Govt.. and even now the GM exec salaries are limited..While the banks and Wall street got their bail out with no strings attached..they were able to keep the same CEOs that took them to the brink of bankruptcy and in fact those same CEOs received millions in bonuses..Now there was suppose to be new strict bank regulations but as of today there has been no rules set for the banks, and Wall Street..As far as allowing the tax cuts to run out..We we shall see...Now we can debate the issues but debating issues doesn't give you right to tell someone they are full of shit.

46. That may be.
I believe that it's best to start with the goal, and to get as far as we can.

We didn't start with the goal.

We started with some rhetoric about some things that would have been compromises, and then backed down on the compromises.

The goal is universal, single-payer, not-for-profit health care.

A strong, vigorous public option available to all would have been a compromise.

Allowing states to opt out in favor of single-payer would have been a compromise.

A corporate health insurance give away, with everyone required to purchase their product, is not an incremental step.

The Stupak amendment is not an incremental step.

A "public option" that is closed to most of the public is not an incremental step.

Neither is the "public" option being managed privately.

they hold the President accountable. Tell the President you hold him accountable, and follow his lead.

That leads me here following the lead of the President. And where we are now is where the President is, wherever that is. But he's being held accountable.

51. It was not just winning
it was winning large and symbolically that actually mattered. If another candidate had won, with most of the rest, the margin would not have been as large and the moment would have been at least somewhat less symbolic. The question is not whether they would have tried, but whether with smaller majorities in the house and senate, the attempt would have gone anywhere.

However my final grade will depend on what comes out of the sausage factory
also known as US Congress.

If Obama can give us Single Payer, I will give him A+
If best he does is a weak PO then I am sorry he gets a C+.
And everything in between gets grades in between.

considering the asshole congress, and the whore like press who are looking for negativity to instigate every damn day. Holding out for giving an A+ only if Obama accomplishes something that he never set out to accomplish nor ran on is like you cheating in order to give him a low score..... and it is the reason that your post fails, with a great big ass "F".

45. I have been graded all my life.
Edited on Tue Nov-10-09 09:52 PM by Garam_Masala
So I have the right to grade Obama on his accomplishments the same way.

Single Payer is by orders of magnitude superior to any other convoluted
system of empowering private insurance companies through mandates and
then accepting all the rejected patients by insurance companies into a Public Option.
....Sorry that does not make any sense. What part of
that logic Obama does not understand? Why is he not using his bully pulpit
to explain why Single Payer is the best HCR?

So yes Obama gets a C+ if all he can get done with the overwhelming
majority in congress, is a weak PO which gives the insurers bigger load of
customers and bigger profits and more funds to buy off more politicians.

50. I am grading Obama for lack of bully pulpit use for Single Payer
If he was pushing for Single Payer every news conference, every TV appearance,
and still could not get it through congress then I would still give him at least A-
for trying like hell.

But he has not done it, so I give him at best C+
