the democrats haven't fixed the economy yet. This country expects things to be fixed immediately. expect democrats to move further to the right, because of the newest gallup poll.

14. There is another year to go
but until the unemployment numbers turn around, this trend will continue. And let's face it, the power is in the hands of the businesspeople who are the ones who will do the hiring. They will try to do all they can to use existing personnel resources, and with a lot of people working part-time (like me) they will have a lot of slack to take up.

Add to the fact that existing full-time workers wouldn't mind making some overtime money, and you have a recipe for keeping the unemployment figures up so that the corporations can get the Rethugs back in power.

The possible solution to this is jobs tax credits. They worked during the early 1980's, and got people back on payrolls instead of in cheese lines.

Stop worrying, my friend. The Republicans are in freefall. The Dems have to get crackin' on jobs, and they're smart enough to know that.

15. 2010
I hate to be a broken record but generic ballets mean nothing. After the 94 takeover Democrats lead In many election years but Republicans keep the House.

However If Democrats keep going the way they are and letting the conservatives(who did nothing to
help Democrats come to power. It was liberals and Moderates who did that) get their way on everything
then we could see a depressed turnout next year and see a report of 2009(Democrats have learned nothing
from Virginia and New Jersey)

If Republicans would have had the house In 2009 the economy would be a lot worse. If people think
unemployment was bad now just think how bad It would be If GM and Chrysler went bankrupted and all
state workers laid off with no stimulus. And If Independents vote against Democrats because of spending.
How do people expect to recovery from Bush's messes? That things would magically Improve with no spending and no Tax Increases.

If Republicans were for shake of argument take the House you will guarantee Obama's reelection just as 94
reelected Clinton. They will vote against everything Obama proposes. They will call for more tax cuts for
the wealthy that got us In this mess, and will try to cut social programs. And you can have moves to
Investigate and call for Obama's Impeachment. The Tea baggers and Birthers control the Republican Party
now.

16. You need waaay more than a 4% lead to gain back the House
Edited on Wed Nov-11-09 08:11 PM by Caitranne
Seems like a stretch to me.

Republicans need to gain dozens of seats. You can't do that with a meager 4% lead.

19. Given that liberals are giving Obama a free pass ...
... despite his failures with Afghanistan, Guantanamo, Wall Street, the foreclosure crisis, and Don't Ask/Don't Tell, the Democrats might as well move to the right. As Obama moves to the right, his followers tag along, so why should he consider moving to the left?

24. It was a blunder to prop up failing and corrupt behemoth corporations
such as AIG (largest insurance co. in world), Bank Of America, CITI Bank,
GM, Chrysler, Goldman Sachs, etc.

All these giant corporations are bloated, inefficient and corrupt. They make
huge campaign contributions to politicians and that corrupts them. Some one
posted yesterday the millions given for example to Obama & Pelosi campaigns.

No wonder no prominent politician is pushing Single Payer. I understand as much as
25% of dollars spent on healthcare go for profits and salaries of big shots in
insurance. Going to SP eliminates private insurance and we have 25% more funds
available instantly for actual health care.

The 2010=1994 meme can't work - the country has recent experience with how Rethugs work. In 1994, they hadn't held the House in over 40 years.
Not gonna happen.

31. Where's the stock market?
13 month high.

Jobs is definitely the bigger issue.. and that always lags.. but if the Rethugs were in the white house right now, unemployment would be at 15%+, however Exec pay would be double what it currently is.

I hope people's memories aren't that short.. and they give the Dems a little more time to get things moving in the correct direction (I don't want to say "right" and have that be misconstrued).

37. Whatever, the party weight stuff is very mucked up due to some heavy defection
from the GOP. However, those new independents didn't jump the fence they just jumped off the sinking ship. They haven't let go of the basic beliefs they had a year or three ago ans will continue to side with the Confederates.

My current guess is the balance is about the same as it was a year ago but the Confederates have the energy so they may reclaim some of the blue dogs but far from enough to take control.

38. So why is it
that any other poll I see, it shows Republicans losing support of the American people?

But thats neither here nor there. If we Americans forget the clusterfuck left to Obama and the Democrats and want to put those responsible for this mess back in control then I say to them good luck. The right has fucked this country up beyond recognition. Obama is trying as hard as one man possibly can to get our name back to good standing.

Sorry, but if people are dumb enough to think the Republicans, and it's pretty much the same ones still in office who made this mess, will be the answer to all the problems then heaven help us all.
