Who says the American people are choosing a president
based on whether we'd like to have a beer with them? I think most people want to hire someone because they can do a good job not because they're "folksy". I'd say if there was ever an election that is LESS about personality this is it. Unless you've had your head in the sand for the last 31/2 years (like Bush, his administration and his core constituency) I think competency will trump likability. The American people know in their guts that Bush has made a fucking mess of everything he has touched. I say that when the people are in the privacy of the voting booth they'll vote for their self interest by voting for an adult to come in clean up the mess.
4. My post is a response to the mediotic discussions by the
pundits. My point is that the endless meaningless background noise about style is just that: background noise. A large majority of voters will make their decision based on the substance and Kerry will win convincingly.
