What's with NPR's "Swing Voter" series?
This morning I heard an installment of what must be a series of interviews with someone named Ridley, I believe. It was done in a cloyingly coy way, with this guy giving points to one side or the other for what they've done in the campaign this week and in general. He's still "on the fence," of course, although anyone as stupid as that at this point is either a moran or is participating in a disingenuous entertainment posing as political commentary. Did anyone hear this? What is your take?

1. I heard part of it last week
I turned it off almost immediately, when it became obvious that this was going to be an ongoing series with just this one individual.

The guy obviously has a perverse incentive to remain "undecided" up to the last minute. I'm not interested in contrived stories like that.

3. That's it...contrived, I agree. His whole raison d'etre is to be the guy
who is yet to be persuaded. On NPR, it just comes across as lightweight schlock.

2. I've heard it twice and they guy sounds like
a closet republican to me. He's voted republican more often than not - except for Clinton - and only seems undecided because he isn't sure about Bush economic policies. I think he's just looking for an excuse to vote for Bush.

4. I thought they had up to 5 different people participating.

6. The perverse incentives remain, even if there are 5
I only heard one person, though.

7. The guy was actually attacking people who have already decided
I couldn't believe this joker. He was complaining about how 80% of the voting population had already made up their minds. Personally, I believe that most "undecided" voters who are being interviewed or surveyed are either Republicans who are lying or are undecided only because they are frantically trying to come up with some excuse to vote for Bush.

8. So what is the NPR producer trying to do? Is it pure entertainment,
you know, just prolonging an election story, or is there a motive to give some traction to *'s campaign? Because I believe now that anyone who gives a shred of credibility to * at this point is either an apologist for empire or just a dumbass. Neither of these has been NPR's stock-in-trade in the past.
