Let's see, according to Cheny, Kerry insults...
Bush's puppet out of Iraq, but has nothing to say about he, Bush and the neo-cons insulting of our real allies like France and Germany?

Don't you just love the craven acts of Bush and Cheney?

5. As often as they remind us to 'think' before we 'do'
All friends tell us things that threaten the alliance. Even the truth now and again.

France because they didn't stand with us going to Iraq. Everyone throws out "They would be speaking German now if it wasn't for the US"

Well if it wasn't for France we may be speaking with a British accent because they sure did help the American colonies defeat the British.

(having a British accent would be kinda cool though) ;-)

Jump into Chimpy's quagmire? I think the French learned their lesson at Dien Bien Phu.

I've access to The Economist. Why don't you give me the reference and I'll get it myself. Maybe I'll post a bit here on DU to "enlighten" people about the bloody French.

training because they don't want to appear to endorse the invasion. Or so you say. Where in this article is one supposed to get the impression that their motivation is purely obstructionist.

they're all good at exactly this sort of thing. The French are definitely fuckwads because not only didn't they jump into an illegal war on our say-so, they're actively obstructing security training in Iraq. Or not.

32. Very legitimate concerns
Who's paying, who's keeping them safe, who's in charge, where and for how long, etc...

This falls under the category of what needed to be established long ago IF an invasion was necessary. Bush had an obligation to either persuade them, or be persuaded by them to wait. He did neither. This is HIS fiasco, and the people of those countries do not want to be subservient to this idiot's command; hence their leaders do not want to commit political suicide for this idiot's mistakes.

You, Rush, and Sean all seem to have read the same thing. Of course, they were aghast that Kerry's sister was "undermining" the Aussie gummint on her brother's behalf.

What was your point?

22. Oh really?
"Real allies" don't support illegal invasion of sovereign nations. Those who do are commonly called "conspirators".

And, of course, France and Germany were our allies until Mr. Derision thought it'd be cute to call them names. In addition, their "real allies" don't go on a jihad trying to destroy the U.N. and, by extension, NATO.

It's amazing we have any friends. Which, I suppose, it just fine by you.

33. Chirac Was One Of The First To Ground Zero
How soon we forget how the French were some of the first to respond to the 9/11 attack and was ready to assist us until this regime started to play games.

Deciding whose a "real" ally is like chasing your tail. We're not here to make everyone be our friend or rule the world either.

Plus, true friends have the balls to tell you when you've done wrong and keep saying it.

This "coalition of the willing", including the British and the Aussies, were bought off with promises of special contracts and spoils...ones that were denied the French, Russians and Germans.

This is all about who gets to control Iraq's oil...if the BFEE does, it can manipulate world prices like it's doing now...whereas if we had to share those spoils, that would prevent the price gouging and profiteering that's going on.

France is not our "best friend" but our common values and interests have been trashed for the greed and arrogance of a bunch of xenophobes who are making this country the new evil empire. My grandparents are rolling over in their graves.

3. Good point.
B/C are the pot calling the kettle black. After insulting the beejezus out of our European allies for a few years now - not to mention the intelligence of the average person - these cretins have the audacity to cry foul over some perceived insult to the interim Prime Minister of the Green Zone and Oil Fields.

I'm so sick of their 'do as I say, not as I do' actions. What's puzzling is that they are generally given a free pass on their hypocrisy, stupidity and outright lies. Can't wait for November!

34. Most Successful Terrorist Hunter - Guess From What Country...
Men's Journal had an article a bit ago about the most courageous people in the world. Think it was just the last issue, or maybe the current one.

Anyway, they profiled a prosecutor who had put the most and worst terrorists in jail - guess what country he is from? Yes, France.
