Kerry/ Edwards Campaigner in Swing State - Asks About Draft

-- goes up to young men and says, hey think of me what you will but let me ask you -- are you going to vote? (usually mumbles). Well let me just say, do you want to be drafted? (shock reaction). Well, I don't want to tell you who to vote for -- but let me just say, if you want to be drafted, don't vote -- if you want to avoid being drafted, vote. Are you going to vote (yes, yes I am).

This approach usually scares the life out of a young person without telling them who to vote for -- but suddenly they want to find out which candidate will impose a draft.


While this approach may not work for everyone - this particular person is great at doing it. Very direct, very nonthreatening looking, senior citizen.
