My Knock-Out TV Ad by Kerry
Here's my idea, and I posted it before, but it bears repeating. Someone important might see this thread and use it, because I think it will make an impact, IMHO.

The ad starts out with that journalist dinner in Washington D.C. in March or April that Bush was trying to do some stand up comedy to show what a regular guy his is. You all remember, he was dressed in a tux, black tie and all. Close up on Bush doing all those jokes with still pictures where he keeps saying "no weapons of mass destruction there".

Now, we move to a split screen, you continue to hear Bush's voice saying, "well, no weapons of mass destruction there, either" as he looks under his desk, with the background laughter from the audience.

At the same time that you split the screen, showing the still pictures of Bush, while his own voice keeps repeating the same lame joke about the WMD's, the right hand side of the split screen is showing devastating pictures from the war in Iraq, including Iraqis dancing around burning American vehicles, children being loaded into ambulances, crying women. All the while, bush keeps telling the same, inane joke to his still photos on the left side of the screen.

You then cut back to Bush, at the podium, with his tux and that silly smirk on his face, and a female voice over says to the viewer, "Mr. President, most Americans think this is a serious matter".

Then, a very serious Kerry picture appears in full screen, and the viewer hears the same female voice say, simply, "John Kerry for President"

I think if Karl Rove was Kerry's campaign manager, you would have already seen this ad.

What do you think?

1. I'd love to see that
Have you thought about pitching it to someone? I don't know if the Kerry campaign would do it, though you're right about Rove doing it in the same position. But maybe moveon.org or one of the others?

3. love it
send this idea to the Media Fund or Move On. It's mean, but it would work, and it has to be done. Plus you can't debate its authenticity, because you would be showing actual video clips of bush

8. Well, all you DUers
now have the idea. I don't need the credit, so anyone who knows more about how to get it in the correct hands, fell free to do it.

All I want to do is win.

I will continue to get Ideas from you guys and use them in my efforts to get Kerry elected, and I will post any idea I get so you can try to do the same, but I don't know how to get this in the right hands, and don't have the time, so feel free, anyone who has both knowledge and time, to move this idea along.

4. I think there should be a whole series of split screen ads
Edited on Mon Sep-27-04 09:02 PM by 0rganism
Your idea is awesome, and the format needs to be used more.

There could be a 30-second spot which shows bush reading The Pet Goat, splitscreen with the (real time) burning WTC, and a voiceover saying, "Bush already knew a hijacked plane had struck the World Trade Center, but chose to read a children's book rather than deal immediately and effectively with a national crisis. Isn't it time we had a president who took catastrophes seriously?" Ends with a blackscreen and the bush "trifecta" soundclip.

And let's get another one with bush talking "Mission Accomplished -- major combat operations are over" on the aircraft carrier side-by-side a rolling photo montage of the soldiers who lost their lives in Iraq since then. Final blackscreen with white letters: Mission NOT Accomplished.

And one with a voiceover at the beginning saying, "What does the president really think about Osama bin Laden?" Then it goes to bush on two split screens saying on Sept. 12 "our number one priority is Osama...dead or alive" and six months later "I really don't care about Osama, he's not our priority". Bounce back between the two speeches for a while, gradually fading in FLIP FLOP into the foreground. The ending voiceover would be something like "Osama bin Laden escaped from Tora Bora while president bush sent troops to Iraq. Sometimes, decisiveness counts."

6. Agreed all the way. Send your ideas
to JohnKerry.com and to moveon.org. I've even sent a message to jk.com about the Pet Goat scene. That should convince everyone in this country what an idiot he really is.

5. I think it's great!
And the more of this idiot's words that can be used against him, the better. I saw tonight that one of our theaters is showing F9/11. None of the big theaters would show it when it came out this summer. Now, I'm glad to see it hitting this area again. I've seen it twice, but I'd be willing to take some people who haven't seen it. It is really an eye opener for people who haven't been keeping tabs on the village idiot.

7. That would be a great one
I posted just yesterday regarding his flip attitude showing that film at the Correspondent's Dinner last year. I was disgusting.
repugs use film of Kerry from 30 + years ago, but Dems won't use that in an ad...why not?

10. Was it that long ago
I don't think so, but maybe you're right.

I have a vivid memory of that speech. I saw it on C-Span live, and it made me sick.

I think this would change a lot of attitudes about "Mr. Nice Guy" and change it to "the class(less) clown"

for those who know how to access those things.

14. Because of SBV ad re: Kerry's 1971 Senate speech,
CSPAN aired it a few times.
I'll do some checking.
