1. All I can think of when I look at him...
...is that he's the twin of Fraser's brother.

2. I Didn't Hear It
What did it sound like he was saying? And was this about the Republican oversampling.

3. Not surprisingly, he did not respond to the critics' chief criticism.

Oversampling of Republicans!

http://www.theleftcoaster.com/archives/002881.html

From Leftcoaster:

Here is the text from the email I got from Gallup this morning outlining the party ID breakdown in their likely voter samples from their two most recent national polls:

Likely Voter Sample Party IDs – Poll of September 13-15
Reflected Bush Winning by 55%-42%

Total Sample: 767
GOP: 305 (40%)
Dem: 253 (33%)
Ind: 208 (28%)

Likely Voter Sample Party IDs – Poll of September 24-26
Reflected Bush Winning by 52%-44%

Total Sample: 758
GOP: 328 (43%)
Dem: 236 (31%)
Ind: 189 (25%)

Looking at this, again I have a simple question: how can anyone, especially USA Today and CNN, let alone the rest of the media take a Gallup national poll seriously when Gallup knowingly puts a poll out there for consumption with a 12% GOP bias in its likely voter sample that everyone knows does not exist in the country today or at any time in the last three presidential elections?

<>By presenting these polls with this kind of bias, and then ensuring through CNN and USA Today the farthest possible media saturation, why is Gallup not guilty of engaging in a political disinformation campaign?

5. Exactly!!!

I have not seen the ...um...was it MoveOn???...ad that prompted him to get on the air to explain Gallup's' methods, but I'm sure the chief complaint was the oversampling by 12% of republicans. He went 'round in circles with implausible explanations about everything but.

He even slammed George(?) Gallup Jr. saying that these days he concentrates on religious polling matters, so what his opinion is in presidential polling is unclear.

What a bunch of crap!!!!

11. By my calculations
that would put Kerry up by 8%. If you look at the last 3 elections, there is a 4% edge for democrats. You take that with the extra 12% for repugs in the gallup, and you have an 8% Kerry lead. I am assuming in that though, that all of the democrats will vote for Kerry. Unfortunately, that probably will not happen, so I would think it actually translates, according to this poll, to a 6% or 7% Kerry lead.

6. It was on CNN, and F Newport tried to answer the Moveon ad
The very humorous part is that he cited no statistics in his rebuttal. It was all spin. For a pollster, that is astounding. He looked visibly nervous and uncomfortable.

8. shockingly, Judy Woodruff asked him no followup questions
(lol)...

plus he also cited their great track record, of course conveniently ignoring their 2000 polling disaster. what a crock.
