George Bush (41) Slams Debates
Edited on Wed Sep-29-04 09:37 AM by BlueNomad
I had the juicy pleasure of watching this as it was rerun this morning on PBS (DC). Apparently it was played last night. Please read the transcript --quite insightful. Made me wonder if there is not some truth to Junior trying to wiggle out of the last two debates when push comes to shove....

Generally, what kind of an experience was it for you?

GEORGE BUSH, SR.: Ugly. I don't like them...

JIM LEHRER: Do you think they should be a required part of the process?

GEORGE BUSH, SR.: No.

JIM LEHRER: No?

GEORGE BUSH, SR.: No, I think you ought to do what's best to get you elected. And if that's best that you have no debates, too bad for you all debate-lovers, because I really think a candidate should be entitled to that.

If there was a guy that stuttered and couldn't say... couldn't finish a sentence, I was the guy who said English was my second language, so maybe I'm a little... (laughter) no, but if you're somebody that looks lousy and has a handicap in speaking and yet is a brilliant contribution as a public servant or an academic, or whatever, I mean, why should that one thing be mandatory-- a place were he's going to come out less well than the opponent who might be a great, big, fine, deep-voice professional debater and absolutely impossible to be president?

So why should a person be burdened with that... that decision to have to debate? I mean, that's my view. Do what's best to get you elected and try be a good president. Now, part of that is taking your case to the people in various ways.

I mean, I don't think you shouldn't have some contact with the American people through public performance, but put me down as negative.

My fantasy is to see the entire klan fleeing the country in disgrace.

3. man they are really shoveling it
The President of the United States shouldn't be able to talk for an hour. What in the world is diplomacy if not talking with people who have different views? Good grief.

Edited on Wed Sep-29-04 09:45 AM by SpikeTrees
Old Bush did not want to debate. A Dem operative showed up at his campaign appearances mocking him in a chicken suit. Do that to his son and you'll get sent to jail, though.

The fucking loser expected everything to be handed to him on a platter every minute of his life. And regarding elections:
"I think you ought to do what's best to get you elected."
And if it's best that you keep people from voting and throw out votes, then too bad for all you democracy-lovers.

8. He is running scared. He knows his son is an under-achiever.
How dare they try to change our country to suit them? They've just about eliminated every aspect of American life that they don't like. They remove dissenters from any public viewing where George Bush II is present; and now they're trying to deny us the one front row seat we have to see what he's really like under pressure.

Damn them! The Bush Family are COWARDS!

9. Wow...
Bush, Sr. is going senile.

No debates would be best for the candidate?

I thought elections were about what's best for the PEOPLE??

11. Poppy might jump out of airplanes at the age of 80, but....
...statements like this one prove he's still a fucking wimp.

A murderous, treasonous wimp, but a wimp just the same.

12. "So why should a person be burdened with that... " reminds me of
Barbara Bush and her why should I burden my beautiful mind with that (seeing tv coverage of carnage and dead troops) comment.

bush 41 doesn't realize - we need a WELL ROUNDED individual in the White House. Someone who can walk, talk, think, negotiate, imagine - he should have done more to insure his first born son performed in those elite schools he attended.

If shrub had been made to toe the line in those schools and wasn't coddled, protected and given a free pass every day of his life, he might have turned out to be a better man.

Unfortunately, the reality is - he's an empty suit. Incompetent and not worthy of the office.

13. Right--it's all about his idiot son who has an IQ below average
It is not about the people's right to hear a debate between two candidates in order to make a decision--it's all about a stupid president protecting himself from the enemy--WE the people.

It is the flagship of this sleezy, priveledged family, who think they are a "dynasty" par excellance.

The people, his own people, are the enemy! The people are viewed as insignificant worthless proles.

They must be worried out of their rich little, filthy vacant minds in order for Poppy to come out of the woodwork and start making pre-emptive, whiney excuses for his little twit of a cowardly son. Next it will be the old battleaxe who will emerge from under her rock.

14. the march towards American fascism continues
This sounds like something Hitler would say...

Fascists despise debates - they consider them the terrain of the 'weak', etc...

Well Bush I - I think you're a fucking fascist, I think you are evil - and I think you are a pussy and the scum of the earth.
