In a couple of days I'll be able to donate $25 someplace. Questions:

First of all, is it too small a donation to be useful (especially since I'll be doing it via credit card online)? I know that sometimes a donation that's too tiny can actually be more trouble than it's worth, since it may cost a small nominal fee for an organization to process the donation.

Also, I believe I can no longer donate directly to the K/E campaign itself, but can I still donate it to the DNC and have it go to good use? Or would I be better off donating it to MoveOn or Democracy For America (Howard Dean's org) or some other organization?

it all adds up...so give what you can..soemtimes all I have is $10 so I give the $10...it can go a long way when people do what they can...

give to the DNC...they are having a fund drive now...up to 6Million...want 7 Million by Thursday...

6. credit card donations are discounted by only 2% or so

so the recipient would get $24.50 of your donation. And with email, the campaigns don't send out snail mail "thank you" notes anymore. It's all automated, costs the campaign nothing.

(Yes, some donors get snail mail thank you notes/pictures. Not sure what triggers the snail mail but it doesn't come with every donation. I'm thinking I'm getting them 'cause I'm sending much more money than I really have but I'm concerned enough to go into debt over this.)

7. find a candidate who represents YOUR values

Donating money to the DNC or to a state party can be dangerous. For instance, an individual who may be very firmly pro-choice could end up having their money funneled into a tight race for an anti-choice democrat.
