Who would have thought ...???
...that our democracy would fall so easily? Seymour Hersh made a similar comment on the Daily Show? He didn't even want to think of Bush winning the election. Paraphrasing, he said it was difficult to believe that 8 or 9 people could bring about a coup and take over our government...

When a respected journalist like Seymour Hersh fears for our country, we should all fear for our country. It's like a train going 90 miles and hour and it must stop in 5 seconds. It's an accident waiting to happen.

1. I think it is proof that all of this was planned.

2. Sy Hersh's fear is quite real--though I think part of his expressing it...
Right now is obviously to motivate people like us to do our level best to convince those leaning the other way of his main points, and that we "have the power" to change things one more time on Nov. 2.

Tomorrow night, my wife and I will venture over to a friend's house, at her invitation, for supper and to watch the debate. Her daughter and she own a very trendy clothing store downtown, and while her daughter is solidly behind Kerry, she is leaning towards Dub. We are, of course--hopefully aided greatly by Kerry's performance tomorrow night--going to work as hard as we can to convince her to turn her vote toward the light, and to save her country. Please say one for us; we've all got to do it one vote at a time!:D

3. I thought Seymour Hirsch's comment were some of the most powerful so far.
He should be on the stump for Kerry - it's true - 9 or 10 people have taken the history of our country and our constitution and put it on it's knees.

9. Someone...
... posted the other day the signs that one is living in a facist state. While all of them seem to apply to the current state of the US, I would suggest that many of them have applied for longer than chimpy has been in power. This thing has been developing for quite a long time.

My dad thought it was coming to pass when Raygun was elected... 'what a disaster!' he kept saying, and he was right.

6. Reminds me so much of a book I read
about a prosperous, small town in central Germany prior to Hitler's rise to power.

The middle class people kept thinking he was an aberration and would somehow go away if they ignored him.

He sold some Germans on the idea of nationalism and they became so fervent and intimidating they bowled the silent majority over.

Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

(Will post title as soon as I can look it up.)
