Bush is a traitor that betrayed U.S. forces to terrorists in Iraq
Background reading: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=909236

Lets break down how Bush betrayed the United States and how that betrayal lead to the deaths of many of our U.S. soldiers in Iraq along with countless civilians.

1. Bush knew Zarquawi was operating from Ansar Al Islams base camp

2. Bush knew Ansar Al Islam was a big bad terrorist camp

3. Bush purported to believe that Al Qaeda was linked to this camp

4. Colin Powell went before the United Nations and pressed the administration claim that Al Qaeda backed terrorists in Iraq (Ansar Al Islam) were linked to Saddam Hussein (false, but it was their assertion).

5. For up to two years prior to that speech in front of the United Nations, our Pentagon tried in vain to get George Bush to agree to a military operation to take out Ansar Al Islam and Zarquawi. Bush refused to give them permission three times. He protected the terrorists from the U.S.!

The reason Bush protected the terrorists, was that if he destroyed them in their stronghold, he knew he would be destroying his already shaky link between Saddam and 9-11 (Al Qaeda).

So what did Bush do? He gave Al Qaeda terrorists a pass. He shielded them from U.S. assaults for up to two years. After 3000 innocents died in the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001, and after Bush was asleep at the wheel on terrorism for nine months,

Bush willfully disregarded the advice of Pentagon military planners and protected the most dangerous terrorist element currently facing the United States from being destroyed. He did this because he had a mission to invade Iraq and pursue NeoCon dreams of a new world order.

As a direct result of those willful and negligent decisions by President Bush, many hundreds of our U.S. service personnel have been killed along with thousands of civilians. By our administrations own reckoning, Zarquawi and his terrorist organization are the leading cause of terrorist acts and killings of U.S. forces in Iraq.

How can any person, irrespective of their political party, justify these actions?

How can this action be perceived as anything but a failure?

Everyone makes mistakes, even world leaders. Why can't Bush supporters acknowdge this mistake?

1. Armies can't change cultures and religions
The NeoCons think they can change the culture, religious aspects, and economic models of the middle east through warfare. There are some things you cannot change quickly through military means.

Taking out a 3rd world dictator with the most advanced, powerful military on the face of the earth is inanely simple. Changing the minds of hundreds of millions of Arabs to believe in western culture, western values, and to embrace ideas like cultural diversity and freedom of religion; those things cannot be accomplished at the end of a gun.

We've tried it before in Vietnam. It doesn't work. We can kill them by the tens of thousands and it won't matter. The more you kill, the more hatred you create and the more Arabs will join their cause.

This is the wrong application of our military. What is needed here are diplomacy skills, a good foreign policy, and a real plan for enacting change throughout the middle-east.

2. Bush forgot the war on terror pretty fast after 9/11
"MESS"... why say this word ? Iraq is a mess,Bush did it!

Would the Dems and
H.R.H. prince Kerry(of suntan) know a WAR if it hit the Pentagon?

Mess= insult to American troops!

Yes, they would.

The problem is Bush didn't recognize a WAR when it hit the Pentagon on September 11th, 2001.

By early 2001 Bush was already planning how he could invade Iraq and overthrow Saddam Hussein. At that time Ansar Al Islam was operating out of NE Iraq under the U.S. no fly zone. The Pentagon went to the white house three times to get permission for a military operation against the terrorist base. Three times Bush chose to protect the terrorists and refused.

Let me repeat that for emphasis. Three times Bush chose to protect the Zarquawi led Ansar Al Islam terrorists and refused the Pentagon.

One month after the third refusal, Colin Powell at the behest of George Bush stood before the United Nations and made the case for war in Iraq. He told the world that Saddam was working "hand in glove" with Al Qaeda, the Ansar Al Islam group, that was located in Iraq.

By that time the group had more than quadrupled their numbers, and spread out their ifrastructure and operatives to other parts of Iraq.

Today over 1000 soldiers are dead, countless more civilians have been killed, and I don't know how many beheaded. Most of those acts are attributed to Zarquawi and his terrorist organization that George W. Bush protected for almost two years, all so he could make his case for war against Iraq and pursue the NeoCon nation bulding agenda. Apparently Bush wanted revenge for Saddam trying to kill his daddy pretty bad; bad enough to protect a base of terrorists from our own military long enough to multiply and spread out through Iraq.

You would support this man who protected Al Qaeda terrorists (by his own admission), even after what they did to us on September 11th, 2001?

3. He'll lose
Edited on Thu Sep-30-04 01:27 AM by plax3
If Bush admits he's wrong now, he'll definitely lose this election. If he's actually going to apologize, he'll only do it if he wins. And most likely not even then. He doesn't care about these people. They're ants that he can step on to gain power. I really don't get the people who support him.

4. Bush dialog

Pentagon: "Mr. President, we have good news! We've located a terrorist base in northeast Iraq along the Iranian border. The Kurdsih forces are ready to back us up on the ground, we just need your signature to execute our plan!"

Bush: "Umm...(Cheney whispers in Bush's ear)...now lets not be hasty. Maybe these are Al Qay-eedah terrorists?"

Pentagon: "Well...no Mr. President we don't believe so. However they are terrorists and they're causing our allies the Kurds a lot of difficulty."

Bush: "No I won't allow you to attack em. We need to see if they might be working with Saddam Hussein first."

...

Repeat above two more times as Bush believes he's fabricated a good story to link Saddam to 9-11, then he sicks Colin Powell on the United Nations to make his pitch for war against Iraq.
