Midnight news dump: ANOTHER mysterious new Bush military record is "found"
Edited on Thu Sep-30-04 01:39 AM by plastic_turkeys
WASHINGTON - The White House said seven months ago that it had released all the records on President Bush's stateside military service during the Vietnam War, yet new records are still dribbling out as Election Day approaches.

The White House on Wednesday night produced a November 1974 document bearing Bush's signature from Cambridge, Mass., where he was attending Harvard Business School, saying he had decided not to continue as a member of the military reserve.

The document, signed a year after Bush left the Texas Air National Guard, said he was leaving the military because of "inadequate time to fulfill possible future commitments."

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said the resignation was found in connection with a lawsuit brought by The Associated Press. The White House said the document had been in Bush's personnel file and that it had been found by the Pentagon.

2. gee whiz . . . no wonder why GWBush says he hates lawyers . . .
1) he was rejected by the University of Texas Law School, and
2) lawyers keep pestering him.

Damn!

What's important today is that Kerry is about to win the debate. 8-)

14. For that matter, who knew you could avoid the draft
by languidly murmuring "military service is not among my priorities" when Uncle Sam called, as Dick Cheney did?

10. You could not resign from the Guard or any military back then
(don't know what the mamby pamby rules are today) but that was a total 'no no'. That would have meant they immediately activated you and you went to Nam. Also (this document was posted last night) there is some reference to this being sent to a Colorado Unit. We know he fled Texas, never showed in Alabama, didn't report as he was suppose to in Mass., but how in the hells bells did Colorado get involved with this??? This shit is getting very stinky but now you can bet no news outlet will cover it "before" the elections. I would like to tell all the guys and gals now in the Guard (even in Iraq), just lay down your guns and resign!!!--it's called "follow the leader".

17. Colorado was the "punishment squadron"
Or as I called it in an earlier post, the Fuckup Brigade.

All of the suspended National Guardsmen were "assigned" to this unit.

15. That's interesting
Since when can one "resign" from the military? He got in to avoid being drafted, and they he just decided he had better things to do and "resigned?"

Yet Rove has set Kerry up to be the war goat and Bush the big hero.
