Martinez's campaign is again stooping to below-the-belt attacks, this time involving Democrat Betty Castor, his opponent in November.
The former HUD secretary's staff used the phrase ``armed thugs'' to describe federal law enforcement agents ordered to seize Elian Gonzalez back in 2000. The remark is pure political pandering to the Cuban community and an insult to agents involved. They were doing their jobs and did them remarkably well in a very tense situation.
