Why isn't CBS televising the debate?
My newspaper's TV listing says they're showing Survior and CSI tonight. I thought it was a misprint, but the CBS website says the same thing.:wtf: Did CBS News lose their balls COMPLETELY?

14. I really hope you're not serious....
60 minutes is the ONLY REAL news show that ever existed...which of course is a pale comparison to what it used to be. I've watched that since it's start in the late 60s...always been a big fan. The rest give us process schit....the equivalent of reading ziff davis mags on car reviews etc....unimaginative/inaccurate/biased for sales/rigged.

I'm excluding of course history channel, discovery, etc which have done great work.

If you're applauding the demise of CBS....I find this impossible to believe. Have you ever heard the expression...."throwing the baby out with the bathwater"?

6. I hope this is not happening. Quite frankly, it's by not offering the
morons of this country some other entertainment that they might be forced to actually listen. Closest thing we have to putting a gun to their head and making them do it!!!! I hope to God that there isn't some crap like this going on in the nation. I can't imagine that CBS would be running both these programs and the debates and some local has an option which they want to pick up. Something doesn't make sense here.

8. maybe it depends on what time zone you live in
debate starts at 7pm here (Mountain) with Survivor afterwards. I guess if you live in Eastern time zone, it wouldn't start until 9pm and Survivor and CSI would be on before hand.

10. Internet listings show that my CBS affiliate is showing the debate.
As are ABC, NBC, MSNBC, PBS, Fox, Fox "News," C-SPAN, and CNN. I think people will have plenty of access to the debate even if CBS fails to air it. If CSI does air and they're watching CSI instead, I have a feeling they're probably not going to be voting or they've already made up their mind.

12. Its a matter of techinicality
When a network televises a live event, the following happens:

At the location at which the event is taking place, cameras record the action and transfer it to a digital signal, which is carried to a control room and reassembled onto a monitor.

A director has several feeds, and several views of this live event. He chooses and splices camera angles and edits together how the telvised interpretation will look to viewers at home, but the content and context are not changed.

The final cut is converted again to a digital signal, which is then beamed all over the country to network affiliates, who in turn decifer the signal and scramble it again. The digital signal is then sent out to the home viewer.

But what the home viewer sees on his screen is not the actual live event, but instead a representation of it. A FORGERY

CBS has been in enough shit, they don't need this to add to their woes.
