Kerry should play it straight tonight. If Bush tries some one liners . .
this is how Kerry should responsd:

<<The president may think this is a laughing matter. But I don't think the parents, the spouses and the children of the more than 1000 American solidiers who have died in Iraq think this a laughing matter. I think the American public deserves a serious discussion of the issues. And I'm prepared to give tham that discussion, even if the president is not.>>

1. all Bush will have is one liners that do not mean a thing
that is his way of debating. Simple answers that do not mean a thing but are unassilable, such as, Medicare is fixed and we need to fight the war on terror, and we are making progress and I stand for women.

That is the extent of his debating skills and it is unfortunate that the debates are set up so as to be virtual sound bites and not really a debate.

So it has come to in this country--sound bites. War is peace

2. Everything Bush says tonight will have been rehearsed.
They've spoon-fed him about 100 different one liners that can be used to answer damned near any question.

Their only problem is his crappy brain. He is certain to screw up and start using one reply and finish with part of another reply.

There will not be ANY actual analytical thinking coming from the right side of the stage tonight.

Not that there will be a lot from the left either, since the format of the debate virtually eliminates the need for it, and almost encourages it's absence.

3. they want a Saint Ronald moment
The only thing most Murkans remember about the Reagan-Mondale debate is Saint Ronald shaking his head, a wry smile on his face, saying, "There you go again."
