Frank Luntz Has Been Canned; Ye Ha
Republican pollster canned at MSNBC

Upon hearing that MSNBC planned for Republican pollster Frank Luntz to conduct on-air focus groups as part of the cable network's debate coverage tonight, David Brock of the media watchdog group Media Matters sent MSNBC executive Rick Kaplan a letter of complaint. It looks like Kaplan listened.

1. Couldn't happen to a better guy, could it?
Luntz almost made me as queasy as Ari Fleisher does. What a slimeball.

4. I went to college with him; he was just the same then.
We had a lot of fun ridiculing him, though.

8. He had all his hair. Male pattern baldness doesn't usually kick in at 18.
Yes, Penn. He and I were both hangers-on of a group in the Quad centering around a lovely young woman named, I think, Gwen. As she was a flaming liberal, she blistered Frank a lot; maybe that explains how he turned out.
He was already a tiresome little neocon then. Penn is the school where we didn't have a sit-in against Vietnam, but instead against the shutting down of the hockey team. Still, the student body was more or less liberal, in spite of Wharton. Frank, at least at the time I knew him, was not what you would call well-liked.
