Is last night the defining moment of the campaign?
bush looking frustrated, like he didn't want to be there, slouching and with the disgusted smirk on his face.

The press in tha past made a big deal out of Nixon's shifty eyes, Dukakis's lack of emotion, Bush41's clock-watching and Gore's loud exhaling.

Sometimes these things are all it takes for undecideds to set a picture in their minds, and in the first debate no less.

1. I think this is just the beginning...
Kerry is a very seasoned and experienced politician. He knows the elections isn't won in the months leading up to the election. It is won in the weeks and days before the election. This was the start of his relentless attack on chimp for the next 33 days. He came out slugging... knocked chimp to the ground ... and should be going for the knock out punch in round two or three.

:kick:

2. The * owned media is now spinning
this as "debates don't matter that much". "Gore won the first debate but lost the election", "Mondale beat Bush in the first debate but lost the election." Even though almost evey single poll concludes that Kerry won the debate by a wide margin 53-37 etc, the media whores are saying it "seems" like Kerry did "Slightly" better than * and that none of these polls are reliable and that it will take a few days for the debate to "settle" in to the nation's conscious before we will know who really "Won" the debate.

My opinion? We need to win it in spite of a corrupt media, and without FL which will be stolen again. Got to win it on the ground and from the web.

By the way, Edards may have a real hard time against Cheney next week. Cheney might be the most charming, intelligent debater in the world. NOT.

5. Cheney is likely
feeling stabbing pains in gut and pacemaker. He can't help but get rattled too by the meltdown and physically he can less afford to lose it than Bush. It is in the long stewing periods that heart problems go ballistic, as much as it might be interesting to see him receive Divine come-uppance at the debate.

Under pressure, snarly Cheney loses it and says the wrong things- and unfortunately they are coherent enough to be really disturbing.

Edwards needs to be charming and merciless, exactly what Cheney is supposed to be good at. Bush has hurt Cheney's peace of mind a great deal and both these tools have been working more than they should. The last time Cheney tanked physically was after the grueling election and after the Jeffords defection.

As far as we know.

4. When Bush made the comment about how we can't get allies to help us
because the war was going badly. "I know these guys". Basically, he was so rattled he forgot what he was saying and admitted that the war was going badly.
