Let's be honest: Kerry did NOT the election win last night!
He certainly avoided losing, as he probably would have done had he performed worse/Bush performed better last night. As someone said, this does not win the game for him, it keeps him in in the game. There's still a lot of time left, including 2 more debates, and a lot of television ad & news time (sometimes it's hard to tell them apart anymore).

We're all thrilled & overjoyed today, and we have a right to be. But it's not over yet (even though nobody here can figure out how Bush is still in it). Let's not get cocky and overconfident. That was what brought Bush down last night. We need to truly work hard and harder and hardest from now to Nov. 2.

2. heh, this election will be hard work
if people on this site are getting over confident then a HUGE shame on them!!!!!

At the very least, the GOP is lowering expectations for the other debates and will pummel Kerry with misquotes of various statistics he'll undoubtedly use during the next debate.

Kerry should go in like he did with this one, I'm down, I need to be at the top of my game and the post debate spin will be escential!!!!

5. Well, seeing as how the election is not held until November 2nd
how could he have won the election on september 30th?

I would have thought it would be rather obvious that one cannot win an election until the election is actually held.

8. I don't think the seasoned and logic minded people who are advising
Kerry are going to get cocky - that's what being a seasoned political advisor is all about. Kerry is in good hands. There is nothing cocky in the methodology or personality of Mike McM or Joe L or any of the others including his wife and children who also are advising him.

True, his supporters shouldn't get cocky if for no other reason than knowing that it's Rove, Bartlett, Cheney, and all their right wing owned media who get cocky.

The results of the debate will slow down the attack of lies from the right wing media. If not, we're truly in the heart of the USSR.

9. Gee, where have I heard this before?
Oh, CNN redux! That's exactly what Carol Lin said (and several other right-leaning pundits) on CNN. "Bwaak, bwaak, Polly wanna cracker!"

11. of course not. Election is on Nov. 2.
but to get at the point your saying, this debate win, gives kerry the leg up now.

if anything, it's motivated us, to go out and work harder, if nopt the campaign itself.

speakign for myself, i was highly stressed about what last night would bring. Not in kerry - i knew he'd do good, but the media. ANd the media actually shifted a bit to the left last night, and that cna only help us.

Even Fox shifted a bit left.
