CUT THE CRAP--You think Cheney would fold like Bush? Edwards was GREAT!
All of you bitching and moaning about Edwards act like you thought Cheney would fold like Idiot Bush did.

COME ON. Cheney is just growling and scowling and barely speaking above a whisper.

He's lying. He's boring.

Edwards has been calm, but energetic. He has had all the facts and numbers off the top of his head.

He WON this debate. No Question.

1. Edwards tore him up
Cheney fought back, like a junkyard dog would if you shot his ass full of buckshot.

Cheney conceded several minutes of time on issues he couldn't respond to.

This 'debate' wasn't even close.

8. I liked where Cheney just sighed and said he didn't know where to start.
(And he didn't have the energy to try, I guess.)

2. Cheney isn't nearly as cool as he should be. JE got to him just enough.
And it was Cheney who needed to knock it out tonight to make up for Bush.

5. People obviously thought Cheney would fold like Bush and that
was a ill-advised premise to start with.

All John had to do was look and act "presidential" and convince people he has the ability to be President if need be.

9. Yes and what is more
Edwards showed that Cheney was the real president not *.

We all know this, but boy was it front and center tonight.

Edwards had the tougher job and did a great. I say this as a Wes Clark person (I was bitter that Clark wasn't chosen as VP).

3. Yep!
You have two educated orators going at it. Cheney did not get anything on Edwards that is sticking and Edwards did very fine.

7. And Cheney just growled and then barely whispered out answers.

.
A few times he muttered under his breath.

And by contrast, John gave a great performance.

6. I expected Cheney to do the job tonight
Cheney is no lightweight. He's all issues and policy, and he's sold himself on it, if he hasn't sold the public on it. Cheney is Cheney, and what you see is what you get.

This debate turned out the way I expected. Nobody really outshined the other, and both were tough. It was a draw.

10. WRONG!
Presentation goes to JE. Sorry, it may be fluff to you but it does matter to the average voter.

15. Fluff?
Whatcha talkin' 'bout Willis?

I simply said that I expected Cheney to not roll over for Edwards, and he didn't. Main thing that hurt him was he ran out of steam toward the end, where he was even inadvertantly covered his microphone.

He did strike hard on the Senate thing, and Edwards did have a nice comeback about Cheney's Congressional record. But he really needed to defend himself here.

Cheney is running on a platform of bullshit, but he spread the manure well tonight.

13. I think this was a draw because
1- The moderator was so awful that the full spectrum of issues wasn't covered--therefore Edwards did not have the chance to give strong answers to the absent questions. He had to bring issues up himself, which is commendable....the moderator sucked.

2-Cheney was lying. Edwards had to work to stay above "You're wrong no you're wrong no you're wrong no you're wrong". So if you don't know that Cheney is lying his ass off, you still don't know if Cheney was lying his ass off.

3-On a number of questions he could have given stronger answers, particularly during the Iraq thing, the repeated jabs at his voting.....but he did draw blood a number of times.

I think Edwards did a GREAT job proving that he is leagues above Dan Quayle and Dummy G. That's all he needed to do. I think overall the effect from both was about equal, with a bit more points to Edwards for not boring everyone to death with his voice and body language like Dick Cheney.

It wasn't as decisive a victory as Kerry...but Bush is an easier opponent. I am DELIGHTED that so many people disagree with me. If most people think Edwards won I'm all for it.

14. All that matters
Is what is going on in the polls.

ANd the vas majority of them show Edwards, a man with less than one term in the senate, trouncing the grand old man of the neo-conservative movement. The fact that Edwards was able to outperform Cheney in the eyes of so many viewers given Cheneys considerable experience in politics is a factor which must be factored into Edwards performance and in a few days the effects of this will become obvious in the election polls as well.
