9. And that "this is NOT what the Cheney people wanted" . . .
Suggesting that, like Gore's sighing, this is starting to get legs and could shift the impressions about how well Cheney did.

The line about not ever having met Edwards
I think that line may have been a trap aimed to get Edwards into arguing with him about whether they had ever met and then letting Cheney say "I guess you're right. You just didn't make any impression on me" - making Edwards look like a kid who the VP never even noticed before.

10. The Lies Were "DELIBERATE"!!!!
Finally...it took 24 hours but finally someone said the unsayable...Chenney not only lied, but knew it! This is where this story has to play for the next 24 hours...the more the merrier.

Dana Milbank...generally a GOOP whore, now piling on with Keith, and playing with the factcheck.com/.org slip up.

Here's hoping these winds start blowing across the cable dial.

16. Milbank did this? Really? Must be having an off day.
It IS true, though. The legs this blunder has developed will blunt ANY luster he may have achieved last night. It's a "CBS Effect." Once THAT one is thoroughly shamed, it casts a bad light on anything else coming out of his mouth. Especially when it's what they're all talking about the next day. It absolutely is NOT what the cheney people wanted.

I couldn't be more delighted. There were a few moments that it will be good to drown out. I did NOT care, one bit, for the Howard Dean slam. Once they finish with this part of it, nobody'll even remember the Howard Dean remark, or much else of what he said.

While I wish Edwards had gone after him with both barrels, I suppose in the long run it's better that Edwards stayed the gentleman. He comes out smelling like a rose.

20. Just finished watching this
I agree with the point made that IF Edwards had refuted the 'I've never met you before walking on this stage' (my paraphrase) LIE that it would not have the impact that ALL the news organizations have made of it with their (shamed into) fact-checking!!

Gotta LOVE IT!

27. The Worm Is Turning
I'm as skeptic and cautious as they come, but Chenney may have done more to help us that Bunnypants prat fall last week. By lying as badly and blatantly as he has, the door opened wide to discredit the main brains of this operation and draw a little more light in his role in all of this.

I dismissed the Dean line when I heard it (I was an neutral ABB'er during the primaries) as a cheap partisan shot with zero impact and besides Tweety jumping on it, now it's long forgotten.

Now let's hope the lie is played up and over again. We've got three gems here that can keep the media going for the next two days until Bunnypants does his next prat fall/meltdown.

the debate for not remembering him. Let the story play out much longer.

Also saying that, today, after the facts are coming out showing how divorced Bush/Cheney is from reality on so many issues, if the debate were rescored, it would go to Edwards.

17. Re-scored? Edwards won hands down. Chaney, a bad liar a best.
I know Edwards won based on the Freep reaction at work today. Again, they were quiet, not admitting victory and calling it a draw. Thats a big Wow, these are some serious creepy types.

23. why do internetters have to explain to journalists which parts are lies?
Is HoWhored saying that they had to do a little research today (probably on the web) to find out that Cheney was not telling the truth, when last night 95% of us non-journalists knew?

19. Cheney documentary on CBC TV Canada tonight
The program is "The Fifth Estate" - entire one hour, critical documentary on Darth Dick.

Here's a blurb from the CBC:

"American Vice-President Dick Cheney has walked the corridors of world power for three decades. His use of intelligence and his access to the key players in government and industry have made him one of the most powerful men in the world.

This is the story of Dick Cheney's vision of America. But he has selective vision.

Cheney's remarkable life story involves the relentless accumulation of power in every form. He's been uniquely involved in a large share of U.S. policy and strategy over the past two decades, and regardless of the outcome of this fall's election, he will continue to be one of the most powerful and well-connected men in the world. the fifth estate will show how he accomplished this, what it involved in terms of costs for others, and what history's judgment could be."

Some of us on the West Coast are still at work. My heart can't take it. ;)

Olberman and Dobbs seem to be the only objective cable newspersons with brains...and courage.

24. He did several segments -- each segment devoted to a different lie
and showed them to be lies via video, etc.

Also showed the scoring process for grading the debate -- Cheney's lie about not ever meeting Edwards before cost Cheney something like 22 points.

David Borowitz was on too. He said he's surprised Cheney has met anyone during the past two years, as he's always been in an "undisclosed location" :D

26. This show is almost too good to be true
Everything IS true, of course, but to see it presented this way one segment after another night after night with such emphasis and sarcasm and necessary tidbits like the GOP partisanship of the ABC VP poll is remarkable. Seems like Keith has really turned it up in our favor the last couple of months, best stuff leading off the show.

Can you imagine the daily reaction to Olberman of a rural southern, Limbaugh-obsessed rightwing nutcase? He'd have to get it, I guess, cable and the meaning, assuming electricity.
