JUST FIND IT FUNNY, AS I AM A REGISTERED DEMOCRAT THAT REBUBLICAN GOVERNOR SENDS ME AN ABSENTEE BALLOT......SOME ONE CALL ME SILLY PLEASE.....BECAUSE I FEEL SOMETHING FISHING GOING ON......ALREADY (AS IN, WILL MY VOTE ACTUALLY GET COUNTED IF I VOTE BY ABSENTEE BALLOT IN SUCH A REBUBLICAN STATE AND COUNTY?)...ANY RESPONSES???
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There have been a couple of people who have mentioned this too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This might be a violation of Federal election laws. Shouldn't the Kerry campaign be notified, and shouldn't one of their lawyers get in contact with you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
noticing LOTS of fishy stuff happening.

This morning we got a call at 10:30...It was a recorded message from the Bush Campaign and it was attacking Kerry's record in the senate (basically the same garbage both Cheney and Bush have TRIED to attack Kerry for in the debates). We are all registered democrats and they call to tell us that??? I mean do they really think we would even continue to hear what they had to say and not hang up?

Then later today we got some person from the Bush Campaign calling us asking, "You are voting for Bush in the upcoming election, right?"....Uhhhhhh yeah of course we are . We are all registered democrats and live in Cleveland...which happens to be a city in Ohio...which happens to be the worst economic state in the country right now. 4 more years of Bush and company...I fear Ohio will never get out of the rut they are in...it will be beyond repair .

4. Dem's are pushing it big time in Iowa. I guess we would have lost
in 2000 and 2002 without the Absentee Ballots.

They want to know who has already voted so they can focus their get out the vote efforts on those who have not voted.

I voted before the first debate.

At first I resisted voting absentee but after getting a K/E AB application, 2 AB applications from Act, 1 AB application from the Dem party, 1 phone call from the State Dem party asking if I need an AB and 1 automated call from the Dem Governor, I kind of got the hint. I sent in the K/E AB application, voted and hand delivered it to the county auditor.

The local party HQ called to ask if I wanted to have my ballot picked up and turned in. I told them I already did all of that and they could mark me off their list.

2. Next time they call, say, "Sorry, I'm still undecided."
Let them waste resources trying to convert you.

(I am just not a nice person.)

3. Once you vote, you can't take it back.
That's why they want absentee ballots in as early as possible. Every day the Bushies screw something up,say something stupid or are exposed further for the lying, greedy cronies that they are. I think they are worried about people changing their mind once they've had enough of the microcephalic chimp and his band of assholes.

5. That is what a local Repub told me today
A disaffected old-style Republican who is active in Texas politics (more active in the past but still an Austin politico): he suspects that all the absentee ballot pushing is about Bush*co fears of some disasterous news coming out near the election---plus as he said: they are starting to slip, better lock in the votes now.

For what it is worth, I coincidentally heard this today.

6. Absentee ballots in Florida have the party name on the envelope
Meaning, it's a scam. Palast says DO NOT absentee vote.

9. I was looking thru the posts to see if that was mentioned.
Don't trust if it is sent to the Republican Party instead of the Election Board or Democratic Party.

They will probably destroy the ballot application or do something else that will disenfranchise the voter.

7. I got a recorded call from the DNC today telling me I could vote by mail
and I am in FL. Our local Dem group backed off from encouraging people to vote absentee.

8. Careful....some counties don't count absentee ballots until a recount
This could be a plan to disenfranchise several thousand voters. Enough to make a recount unnecessary. Some counties have laws on the books that only count absentee ballots in the event of a recount or a close election. I've read where some counties only count if there's less than 3% margin of victory. I'm not sure about Florida, but the above examples do happen in America.

This seems like a dirty trick to me and I'd check the laws in your county regarding the time when absentee ballots are counted.

10. The "real" reason why: your vote is locked in and can't be changed.
By voting by absentee ballot, * votes are there in their pocket. If the dems have an October Surprise of their own, and the absentee ballot voters want to change their choice of President, they can't.
