I wish Edwards would have pointed one fact out
When the Sneer said that there was more bipartisanship during his earlier service in congress, Edwards should have reminded him that congress was controlled by the Democrats, who have always shown a willingness to compromise and work in a bipartisan way for what is best. It wasn't until the Repugs became the majority party that all sense of bipartisanship was lost, with the Repugs railroading through everything they want, and making sure they eliminated everything they were against. Bipartisanship and working together are ONLY possible in a Democratic controlled congress. You see, Democrats are willing to GOVERN, while Repugs only want to RULE.

2. yes, this is right, riddler
And did you know the decline in public discourse has been studied by academicians? I heard the interview on NPR several years ago and one of the researchers pointed out that it was Newt Gingrich who perpetuated the decline with his tutoring of House and Senate Repubs on how to attack.

Those Gingrich pages used to be available online; don't know if they still are.

3. Good point. They do need to think more quickly,
but honestly, there are too many things wrong with this administration to fit everything into those dinky one-minute speaking opportunities, and it must be a challenge for Kerry to remember to fit in everything he'd like to say.

I was hoping Edwards would mention the fact that the Democratic congressmen were locked out of the energy bill meeting when it was being negotiated. Cheney mentioned the energy bill as one of the "key issues" he accused Edwards of not voting on.

Welcome to DU, Riddler. :)

4. I wish shows like Crossfire would give DUers
the opportunity to represent the Dem point of view. Today Tucker was grilling the mayor of Cleveland about Edward's supposedly poor attendance record in the Senate, and she had nothing to say. DUers had the correct figures on his votes right away and would have shut the little bowtied weasel right up.

It's frustrating when the pundits don't know what the hell they are talking about.

By the way I agree that Edwards missed a couple of opportunities to call Cheney out, especially the lie that they'd never met. That one was so easy to refute and would have made Cheney look like even more of a total ass.

7. I don't think it would have made a difference.
Cheney would have accused Edwards of lying about the facts, like he did with all of Edward's responses.
